5 Series (E60) BMW E60/E61 5-Series & M5 Video Gallery

The BMW E60 is the fifth generation of the BMW 5 Series. Body styles: E60 (saloon/sedan), E61 (wagon/touring). Predecessor: 5 Series (E39). Successor: 5 Series (F10). Production: 2003–2010.
Top Gear tests the BMW 530i (E60).

James May (the long haired bloke) from Top Gear tests the then new 530i E60. I say the "then" because it's the pre-facelift model.

Clarkson reluctant to admit that May was right and the E60 is a great car.

Sorry if this is a repost.

The question "What would you do if you won the lottery?" has now been answered.

Thanks for posting this vid. Great to see this car get put through the paces.

Re: Testdrive - BMW M5 Touring

All that sideways action from a wagon is orgasmic for a wagon lover like me. Wish they would bring it to states. BTW guess this is the first 200 MPH wagon.

Re: Testdrive - BMW M5 Touring

Gulp! Great video, great car. I can't believe it, but one of my favorite BMWs is a wagon of all things....this M5 wagon that is. Yikes the sound of it, pure F1 car.

The side air-bag in the BMW is just too small. The good news for the 5-Series is that it wasn't rated as poor. And that isn't saying too much when it was the car that scored the lowest rating. Still not what you call a deathtrap, though.

True. It's now clearly seen the side airbag protects chest area quite well, but due its small size the abdomen is too exposed. Even more: dummie's abdomen was hit by the front door armrest.

This would not happen in the case side airbag was bigger, and mounted in a seat instead in a door.

Yet I noticed another interesting detail: the dummy is either very short, or seats way too low. Look at the position of its head: it barely reaches the headrest, despite the headrest is set on the lowest position possible. Also the top edge of the steering wheel is in the level of dummy's nose!

Either way: better solution is needed. I'm sure a slightly bigger airbag module will be installed soon.
