Autozeitung also tested B5 but against CLS55. They declared the B5 as a winner.

Excalty my thoughts, Alpina is closer to AMG then M. M a sportier choice, Alpina a comfortable choice. Personally I would choose M5 over B5.

"At the end of the race, the Alpina has a 4 second lead over the E55 AMG"
I wonder if B5 would be faster than M5?

0-200 km/h (0-125 mph)
Alpina B5: 14.5 seconds
E55 AMG: 16 seconds

Alpina B5 sure is a fast car.

I'm not a big fan of the E60 5-series design, but it sure looks good in Alpina and M5 form.

Thanks for reminding me to check Autozeitung! I completely forgot about those guys, and they're one of Germany's biggest car magazines! :eusa_danc

Thanks Wimmer for the test, personally I love the E55 and I'd take it any day over the B5. I never liked Alpina body kits, the thing I like about the Alpina is its performance and rims. If I had to choose I'd take the B5 performance mods with the M body kit.

But I really think they should wait for the upcoming E55 or E63 (whatever there going to call it) and then do their tests again cause the E is getting old now with all the new comers.

E55 is the car that exist at the moment. Its like saying wait for the new RS6 or the next M5. Cant wait for the future to reach us :)

No problem buddy. The next AMG E-Class will probably be called E63 AMG (new M-Class is named ML63 AMG). The future looks FAST. :D

Just_me, yes i know. But my point was if they wanted to compare those two cars they should of used a tuned E Class not the E55 which soon will be replaced, anyways just my thoughts :D

Cawimmer, okay then E63 it is :D Thanks buddy :)

no tuning, just standard vs standard ;)

I think there is a very very good chance the next AMG iteration of the E - class (der E63) will hand both the M5 and B5 their rear ends on platters. :usa7uh:

I expect the next E63 to be faster than M5 in straightline acceleration, if not its a failure. However, the difference wont be huge like with E55 versus the old M5 E39.
