5 Series BMW 550i Gran Turismo US Pricing

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

Report: 2010 BMW 550i Gran Turismo Pricing Leaked, Starts at $63,900

An unconfirmed leak of what appears to be an official BMW document today has revealed what may be the base pricing of the 2010 BMW 550i Gran Turismo. Starting at $63,900, the pricing puts the car just above the top-end of the 5-Series sedans, but about $17,000 below the entry-level 7-Series.

That's a pretty understandable place for a car that shares 5-Series overall size with a 7-Series standard wheelbase and blends many of the amenities and features between the two. As we noted in our recent 2010 550i GT test drive, the car often comes off as more 7-Series than 5, especially in the realm of rear seat room and interior styling.

While the pricing leak today is far from official, the document itself does look credible. European delivery customers can save about $4,500 off sticker by picking the car up in Munich, meaning those with some cash in hand can justify the expense of a European vacation.

Pricing for the upcoming 535i, which will employ the new single-turbo six-cylinder engine, should slot somewhat below the 550i, meaning it would probably parallel pricing of the current 5-Series Touring model, which starts at $55,800.

As always, we'll have the latest official information for you as soon as BMW releases it. In the mean time, you can use these figures to start planning your purchase, or comparison shopping alternatives. The holidays are just around the corner, you know.
