Interesting nostalgic video (although sadly it is in Dutch which I don't fully understand) I found on the tube today from the late 80's where they compared the E32 BMW 735i vs Jaguar XJ40 3.6 vs W126 Mercedes 420SE.

Its amazing how the luxury saloons have advanced since these magnificent saloons came out.

I reckon this comparison was close, the Mercedes surprisingly proved to be quicker accelerating than both.

If any of our dutch members can let us know what the outcome of this comparison is I would be greatly appreciated. Which car won the comparison and came second and third? ;)

Not really a winner. Each had their pros and contras. Conclusion was that all 3 had good road handling, comfort and achieved great performance.

Thanks for the translation of the conclusion

We all now the rating of AutoBild, Autozeitung, AMS etc. This was never the case in Dutch journalism. Nowedays there is still no rating system, but you can see in the Dutch carmagazines (as well as the German magazines) the influance of carmanufacturors, which is't as objective as it used to be.

The Dutsch Autovisie is an example of real journalism and carentousiasm in the past. Nowadays it more and more becomes the spokeswomes of carmanufacuturors (read VAG/Audi).
