A6/S6/RS6 Autoblogger: Audi A6 3.0 TDI S-Line

...and that a couple of Swedish magazines finds it much more fun to drive and sporty. Way to go!

From a purely technical point of view, with regards to lightness and engines, Audi seem very much at the current forefront with the A6 and A8. Which is somewhat at odds with the conservative design.

In DK an Audi A6 2.0 TDI will be priced about 15k Euro under a BMW 520d with a E-class being even more expensive. It's becoming very interesting.

The differences aren't that big in Sweden but the FWD 2.0 TDi will sell like crazy in the current competition.

After reading the Autocar review of the A6 3.0TDI S/Line the underlinning impressive is that they were very impressed at it's ability to be an entertaining driver's car, spookily similar to how impressed they were about the B8 S4 which bodes well for future comparisons.

BTW the predictions of sales for the 2.0TDI in the UK is 80% of total A6 sales. A crazy amount when you think about it. :t-crazy2:

That's because cars are for free in Sweden, you can't go below 0... ;)

A 3.0 TDI 204 hp A6 is close to about 9k Euro cheaper than the 520d as well, and almost as economical with FWD as the 520d. I'm seeing that as the obvious choice in DK.

Leasing wise, I don't know how Audi compares, so that may change the picture.

Edit: Both the 3.0 TDI 204 aut and 520d aut are rated at 5.2l/100km. That you can get a V6 TDI with that kind of data, is rather impressive.

I had an albeit brief opportunity to see the new A6 IRL on a southwestern German Autobahn two days ago. A metallic brownish A7 ascended upon me very quickly, shooing me into the right lane. Hot on its' tail was a grey A6. Both cars had HN plates which indicated that they were from Audis' carpool in Neckarsulm. As fast as those cars were travelling (I imagine very well in excess of 230 km/h), I could appreciate the rear view of the new A6. Nice substantial stance.

Nice to hear from someone who has seen it in it's natural enviornment, i.e. the Autobahn travelling at high speed. :D

Did you not try and keep up with it, also you didn't happen to notice the number of exhaust pipes at the back?

No way I could have kept up in my 7 year old 180HP TT, Footie :D. Nor would I have really wanted to as I prefer simply cruising at speeds around 140-160 km/h should traffic permit. Less stress and my pedal to the metal days have passed long ago. I quenched my appetite for speed in my younger years when Autobahns were far less congested and also occasionally raced karts. The A6 was almost certainly not an S6 as I do not recall it having quad exhausts.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
