Well deserved Audi, true Premium product the A3

According to them(and not only) the A3 is better in every single category... they even rate its design a star higher. Last but not least... the much better car is A LOT cheaper... yet it doesn't rely on that to win! That's what I call proper smashing!

Spot on correct. And because the A3 sedan is better than the CLA, the CLA is a big failure. Shame on MB. All point and laugh.

Easy for BMW too, they only have to get an A3 sedan for benchmark testing against 2er GC, and they can forget about the inferior-in-all-aspecs CLA

Been waiting for one of these comparisons.

The Mercedes defeat is not as massive as you guys are making it out to be until price is factored into the equation. But Audi has been making premium compacts for much longer and they obviously have a better understanding of putting together such a vehicle. The A3 is a class act. Though it's not as shocking an effort by Mercedes as you guys are asserting and the incredibly negative attitude towards the CLA from a lot of members here is a little perplexing, feeding off each other until a point where frankly it becomes a tad bit ridiculous.

Glad to finally see these to foes side by side but 6000 Euro is a lot of money!

Does anyone have the list of the Autobild criteria in english, i.e Komfort = Comfort and Fahrdynamics = Driving Dynamics?

I wish I was rich enough to share your way of thinking
For example: The 335i is a great car but what if it costs C63 money... it will be the worst car in this price range...
If the CLA costs the same as the A3 then it would have been a pretty decent car in its price range!
Price is a part of any car... actually the most crucial!

PS: I don't criticize/dislike a car without a reason. Check some BMW threads and you'll see for yourself.

I clearly acknowledged Euro6000 is a lot of money. Mercedes is price gouging in the market where this test was conducted here. But price does vary considerably from market to market. And the way 1/2 of you are carrying on is like the CLA is the worst POS of a car which it clearly is not.

Of course it's not the worst car. At this price range and considering it comes from one of the best car manufacturers in the world... it's pretty bad IMO.

Precisely. The A3 Sedan may be/probably is the better car. But the CLA is not a piece of shit and not without merit as some on here are suggesting, whether you like the design or not.

It's sad when people are "happy" to see a car lose out to another car. People weren't ecstatic when the GLA obliterated/humiliated BMW's ultra premium X1 .

Marcus, just for the record, my strong disdain for the CLA has nothing to do with my love for the blue propeller. On other hand it is motivated by my strong dislike for poser vehicles. I dislike the 5GT with almost the same fervor.

the CLA is aimed at the U.S. market; Mercedes can afford to price the CLA so high in Germany/Europe as the vast majority of production from Kecskemet will already be spoken for from US demand, off the back of the $29,995 CLA250 bargain price.

the CLA in Europe will become even more niche once the GLA starts properly next year. The GLA will out-sell the CLA by 10:1 in Germany/Europe.

given this - the bullseye of the GLA - I'm sure Audi would gladly trade the Auto Bild-confirming 'success' of the combo of the competent but dowdy A3 saloon and okay-selling Q3 for the combo of the supposed disaster of the CLA and bound to be smash hit GLA.

I am not even glad, and that's why I consider he CLA a faillure because I have MB in high regard and Audi not at all...so it might be a good car, but it really could be a whole lot better because MB is a much better car maker compared to Audi. So with A3 sedan winning, MB dropped the ball...

Honestly, nothing you post ever makes any sense. One gest and MB dropped the ball? Do you know stupid that sounds?

Now when the 3-Series lost comparisons does that mean that BMW dropped the ball?
