Some ideas..
What do you think?
This time I highly believe we will get a true M7, and not the rumored M770i. The reason for that is the same dumb excuse BMW does like: "We will not make any X5/X6 M." Then there are rumors of "X5/X6 xDrive50si" and finally still the X5/X6 M. I'm sure the same will happen for the 7 Series, where they said they will not do any, then a rumors of 770i appears, and finally there should be a true M7. If you look BMW is the only one not to have such a car. Yes there is the Alpina, but it can't compete well against the S AMG and S8. M has a higher status than BMW, BMW market in China is growing and so does the M market grow in China, otherwise why make M5/M3 Concept premiere there? BMW 7 Series lacked sportiness due to heavy weight, but if the next 7 Series will be lighter, probably as current 5 Series, what would prevent BMW do build a true M7? The M V8 will then be found in many more cars, in fact all those starting from M5. I think it is the right time for an M7. Of course this car will not be aimed at Europe, but rather at China, Russia, Middle East and lastly United States.
Sedans in general are losing market compared to SUVs. BMW will launch an V12 powered X7. Market for luxury SUVs increases, sedans take the place of sports cars with added practicality. 7 Series will have to find something more to offer, compared to X7, sportiness can be one of those aspects, an M7 would do just that.
Anything is possible especially with the new G11 especially with its significant weight savings
So far I have not heard anything relative to an M car , they might do a quasi M car which the CS was going to be - the concept ran a protototype V10 which BMW M. showcased in its anniversary M5 and it was crucial to how BMW were going to position that car , it was the flagship so the V10 and V12 were to be the only option along with the Tri-turbo diesel.
But then again Alpina kind of fill the gap with the B7. I was speaking to someone who got to drove the Alpina X3 and says it is phenomenal.

A V12 powered luxury SUV would be quite unique.
