Wow - interesting car! Do you can give any specs and date?!

Never was a big fan of Arden - because the elegance of the Jaguars get lost in my opinion…nevertheless great to have you here with such a special and rare car. Would also love to see pics of your CL too…fabulous garage!!!

Ok, some specs & a little story:
I bougth an iceblue XK8 1997 and i was clear about the fact, that there will be a kompressor version later too. So i told my local dealer to order one if they are available... good! Because the first 50 customers have been invited to pick up the car in England, flight included!
So my XKR is "One of fifty", fifty XKR for fifty years XK. In fact the XKR was such a success that there have been two "fifty" groups: the first fifty of Germany and fifty... for the rest of the world! :D

The XK has been a disappointment, the 280hp a far to less for a real kick and nothing compared to my 500E (the one with Porsche breaks! Maybe some of you know that). The Merc with 5 litres and 320hp was in every way superior to the Jag... but the Jag, especially the iceblue was so damm elegant an beautiful so i have to buy the XKR.
I was very satisfied with my new BlackJag. The Jag instructor told us a trick to go faster than the 250 limit, so the R runs something about 270/280.

And then i meet Mr. Arden and a long period of chances begun! :D
The first was a motor tuning from 4 to 4.4 liters and a raise from 363 to 440hp (i do not remeber exactly). Along with racing breaks, a must. The official top speed was now 280!!!!!

Then they released the first A-Type, a car, that is still so good looking today, not old fashioned or tuned in a wrong way. Little Jabba up an away, the next modifications and my A-Type was (nearly ;)) finished.
The changes: some motor tuning, bodyparts, navigation system (under the roof! so i could keep the nice instruments!) and steering gearchange! That was very very special in these early years an they added two signs in the cockpit so i can the the gear 1,2,3 etc... And a tire pressure display for all wheels.
Result: 464hp and a new top speed of 295. Of course the suspension was also renewed.

I think 2004/5 was the last mod:
The whole interior was covered with black leather and the complete exhaust system changed into high grade steel with some 30hp extra. So at least there are 490hp, but this last mod is not official. Everything else is written in the car licence!

I never expected to read something in the year 2009 about the "old" A-Type,but, surprise surprise the german AutoBild releases an article about the A-Type. It said, that only 13 (!) of them have been build and everyone is different from the others and Arden will build the absolutly 5 A-Types and the are alredy sold.

Of course i had some trouble in the past 11 years, but today i am very glad that i keept it. BTW: 35.000 km... like new! ;)

Can't believe that you had a W124 500E and sold that one!! It was one of the best Mercedes ever build (probable THE best)!!

Aaaaargh!
It still hurts when i think about, why i sold it. It was because of the tax office, i was so upset (i won´t bore you with that) i sold the 500 and bought a CLK430 (the 500 hasn´t been released). The 500 has been the king of understatement, the only problems i had with it were the rear shock absorbers, the get weak after a short period.

So, i found two pictures from inside, not very good but enough for some impressions, dashboard and roof covered with leather, all black :D

First the navigation system, you have to get used to look up, but it works fine.

You can see the little triangles for shift up and down, the buttons are on the backside. The small dispaly top right shows the gear, the left one is only for oil pressure alert, off when in automatic mode. The speedo has max. 300, thats what the MOT complains everytime, it should be 320. But, hey, understatement! :D
The fuel consumption isn´t that bad (19l/100km), normally its about 15...
