Chronos Apple Watch

Watches, horology, timepieces, collecting, brands, craftsmanship, and discussions.
I still don't think there is a practical use for a smart watch yet.

I think so too. I do think Iwatch is a stupid gimmick. But I also honestly thought the same about the original Iphone (my co worker had one on the very first day paying ~$700 and rest used to laugh at him). How wrong I was. There are many more examples of ideas I thought were stupid and went on to become billion dollar product/companies. So I am very acutely aware of my own limitation when it comes to predicting a product's success.

When the first iphone was released, I too thought it was stupid because of the horribly slow and unreliable data network we had, you can't really do much with it. But the technology has advanced dramatically, we can all see the results today. As for the smart watch, maybe one day it will become useful when we no longer need our phones, when we all have holographic projections in front of our eyes and we use the watch as a phone...if all this makes sense.

I have to say there are a lot of lazy and less...intelligent people out there who will throw money at things that people like us will never ever buy because we prefer the smarter way of doing things.

Not a rhetorical question, out of my own genuine curiosity - how many of you bought the original IPhone - the one released in June 2007 (not sure if it was even available in Europe, if it wasn't, what did you think about it at that time - be honest!).
I had the first one. I thought it was the best phone I ever had. (although I must say before that I thought nothing could beat the Nokia 6310(i).

I think the situation is slightly different this time compare to the pre-portable device days. Apple has Android as a formidable competitor and there are a range of 2nd generation wearable devices on the market before the launch of the iwatch. I still don't think there is a practical use for a smart watch yet.
Well, I have a friend who is motorcyclist. The only person I know, who really bought it because of usefull reasons.

The first iPhone wasn't for Holland, but I got the first 3G version. Bloody sensational. Also have couple of iPads, Macbook Pro and iPod touch. In fact all my computers are Apple.

This watch however.....lolz.

I didn't think the iphone was stupid, just another high end phone with some laughable limitations. What i found stupid and absolutely useless at the time was the Ipad.

GUIDED ALL THE WAY: MB TO INTRODUCE DOOR-TO-DOOR NAVIGATION WITH APPLE WATCH

Stuttgart/Sunnyvale. Mercedes-Benz creates an intelligent integration between Apple Watch and Mercedes-Benz vehicles with its new MB Companion App. The MB Companion App allows Mercedes-Benz customers to search for directions on the Apple Watch or on iPhone initiating a complete door-to-door experience. A seamless integration unfolds: giving walking directions to the car on the Apple Watch, driving directions on the vehicle navigation system and again walking directions on the Apple Watch from the car to the final destination.

The destination that the driver selects on Apple Watch is passed to Mercedes-Benz COMAND Online once the driver starts the vehicle. He then receives safe and non-distracting driving directions to his selected destination from Mercedes-Benz navigation. When the driver parks and leaves his car, Apple Watch gives him walking directions to the final destination making it the perfect guide for “Last Mile Navigation”.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class and S-Class vehicles equipped with COMAND Online will be able to work with the MB Companion App as of fall this year. Further models will follow soon. By then, the MB Companion App will also enable drivers to find vehicle information such as Fuel Level, Range, Maintenance Code, and Odometer Readings on Apple Watch.

Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America (MBRDNA) – the agile innovation center in Silicon Valley has worked together with Daimler development experts from Sindelfingen to enable Mercedes-Benz to make this new Door-to-Door navigation available for customers. With its culture of collaboration, networking, innovation and creativity, Mercedes-Benz’s team in Silicon Valley established a track record in integrating Silicon Valley innovations into vehicles.

I am sorry but....this.........really.....environmental awareness and navigation skills are basic human survival abilities. If people can't manage to do these basic tasks then they shouldn't be driving.

I'm all down for GPS when you need to find somewhere in a hurry. But most of the time you can do well by yourself, you get to know your city better, and you pay a little more attention to the road.
GPS should be used as a support, but I see people trusting it completely. Sometimes the routes are not as short or efficient.
Now, needing a GPS strapped to your wrist to find your 6 meter long Mercedes, then YOU have a problem.

I did. Worked like a charm, untill sofware updates happened. I've been addicted since.

Hello, my name is Robert and I'm an Appleholic. I will, however never buy this (P)OS.
