AMG chief to head Mercedes sales and marketing

After more than 34 years of service, and having reached his 65th birthday, Dr Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing and part of the management team at Mercedes-Benz Cars, has decided to hand over his responsibilities to a younger pair of hands. The transfer will formally take place on October 1, 2013. The Daimler Board of Management has named Ola Källenius, currently head of AMG, as his successor. Dr Schmidt will remain available until the end of 2013 to support Mr Källenius in settling into his new role and to offer any advice and assistance.

Not sure why, but this sounds like great news... I think we can call him Mr. OK? :D

A little less confusing moniker for individual products should be in the list of "immediate do" for the sake of better product identification and differentiation for customers. Currently both the top and most expensive 2 door coupe and the compact 4 door saloon have the "C" classification and then the CLS which is based on the E class. The numbers also are misleading as they are suppose to indicate the horsepower now instead of displacement (I read about it somewhere) and I think the numbers don't indicate the horsepower either. And the S500L doesn't sound half as good as 500SEL and 500SEC(Coupe). Can we go back to having the numbers first please. Mercedes can still keep the letter for classification, its just the order of appearing. We also have the S classification for the E63 now. What is going on. Too much confusion. BMW is so much better in badging their cars. Its the 3, 5, 6. and 7 as it used to be.
