In the car industry, spring traditionally starts with the Geneva Motor Show. The first new innovations are put on show in the second-largest city in Switzerland. The AS5-R from ABT Sportsline is a particularly exciting innovation. The cool and extravagant Coupe will show its best side in hall 5, as the designers from Allgäu have come up with a breathtaking bodywork kit for the vehicle. The AS5-R is also strong: 510 dynamic horsepower (375 kW) provides considerable power in every situation. For anyone who wants more than the standard 344 HP (253 kW), the eight-cylinder, tuned by ABT, is the perfect choice. Unfortunately the car also shows the disadvantage of a trade fair, as the AS5-R has to stay stationary.

The sports coupe is not, however, alone: the largest tuner of vehicles from the VW group will also be showing highlights from their current program in Geneva. On a surface of 153m2 and a light, elegant stand, the following stars from Kempten are also on view, alongside the AS5-R: the ABT Q5 is a car which cuts a good figure everywhere. The abbreviation “SUV” traditionally stands for “Sportlich Und Vielseitig [sporty and diverse]” at ABT and especially applies to the Q5. The ABT R8 is a real sports car, offering pure dynamics. It is not just the power which is right, but all of the aerodynamics have also been perfectly designed by the motorsport team of ABT for use in extreme conditions. Nevertheless, the ABT R8 also looks breathtakingly beautiful. Another real eye-catcher is the ABT Scirocco, a landmark amongst compact Coupes. It goes without saying that this car is as sporty as it looks at the trade fair. In order to experience its huge driving enjoyment, you would have to drive out of the hall and around Lake Geneva...

ABT Sportsline has achieved plenty of success with the AS5, which is based on Audi’s A5 - as the coupe has a dynamic and elegant design, is full of technical power and also quick. All this makes it a "real” ABT. Now the company from Kempten has brought out the jewel in this range - the AS5-R. This vehicle is an ab(t)solute super sports car, nothing more and nothing less. Thanks to ABT POWER R, i.e. the change to the engine management and the insertion of an ABT Compressor, the performance is increased by an impressive 156 HP (115kW) to a powerful 510 HP (375kW). The AS5-R reaches 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and continues on powerfully up to its maximum speed of 292km/h. In spite of this enormous increase in performance, consumption and thereby emissions still remain at the level of the series-produced vehicle. CO2 emissions per HP thereby fall from 0.81 to 0.56g/km.

As is normal with ABT, all the components are perfectly adjusted to the enormous power of a top sports car. The ABT braking system with 380 millimetre disc diameter provides maximum deceleration even in extreme circumstances, and the ABT Coil-over suspension system also helps to bring the potential power onto the road. Motor sport professional Christian Abt has perfectionised the interaction of power with his know-how. The result is a top-class driving machine, which is also enjoyable in everyday use and is pleasant to drive on long journeys. The ABT AS5-R is therefore a maximum of a car – and a statement which shows the high level at which the engineers from Allgaeu work.

Its "suit” fits, of course, like a glove: The front spoiler accentuates the ABT grill and the striking section around the fog lights, inner fender skirt and the gill-shaped air inlets provide contours to the side of the ABT AS5-R. They have also succeeded on the side which most drivers only rarely get to see: The rear with the ABT rear skirt and 4-pipe rear muffler shows that this model athlete on wheels is more than “just” a car. The designers of ABT recommend the 20 inch BR alloys as the perfect accessory. Wheel-tyre combinations with height performance tyres are, of course, also available. Only with these accessories can the fast AS5-R safely unleash its power. And it has lots of that.

New Powerful ABT Audi AS5-R Now Available in the U.S. through GGI European Tuning

Miami, FL - GGI European Tuning, the exclusive North American importer of ABT Sportsline tuning products for Audi automobiles, announced that they will be offering ABT’s new AS5-R in the U.S. Recently debuting at the Geneva Motor Show, the AS5-R is a real sports car hiding under the body of a coupe.

A big step up from ABT’s successful AS5, the AS5-R takes the Audi A5 to a whole new level. Utilizing ABT POWER R, which includes engine management changes and the inclusion of an ABT compressor, ABT increases the power output to an incredible 510 horsepower. This allows the AS5-R to reach 62 mph in a quick 4.5 seconds and then achieve a blistering maximum speed of 181 mph. Surprisingly, in spite of this enormous increase in performance, ABT is able to retain the fuel consumption and the emissions of the mass-produced Audi A5.

ABT Sportsline owner Christian Abt used his professional motorsports experience to adjust all the componentry to interact perfectly with the power of the AS5-R. The ABT coilover suspension system helps get the power to the road and the ABT braking system, with massive 380 mm discs, provides maximum deceleration even in extreme circumstances. The result is a first-class driving machine as capable for everyday use as it is for road trips, a testament to the engineering capabilities of the ABT design team.

It wouldn’t be an ABT-tuned vehicle without an exterior transformation. GGI offers all the details necessary to take the car from a docile A5 to an AS5-R super coupe. The front spoiler accentuates the ABT grill and the striking section around the fog lights. The inner fender skirt and the gill-shaped air inlets provide contours to the sides of the vehicle. Finally, the ABT rear skirt and 4-tip exhaust add character and show off the business end of the AS5-R. ABT designers recommend their BR alloys in a 20-inch size, which GGI wraps with Yokohama Advan high performance tires.

As with all other ABT products for Audi vehicles, the ABT AS5-R upgrade can be purchased directly through GGI European Tuning and professionally installed at their Miami, Florida or Huntington Beach, California locations, or through one of their dealers.
