Corvette ZR-1 breaks cover at Laguna Seca

The Corvette ZR-1’s debut is one of the most hotly anticipated in recent times. The new super-’Vette couldn’t come too soon for fans who see the new Nissan GT-R as a serious threat to GM’s performance-per-dollar crown. Fortunately for its fans, it looks like the ZR-1 is getting close to reality, as a nearly completely undisguised production-looking car hit the track at Laguna Seca for some hot laps yesterday, and we’ve found a picture and video to show you.

The bright-yellow, bulging-hooded, 650hp supercharged ‘Vette blasted around the track to the delight of onlookers. The surprising lack of obfuscating black body dressing shows the ZR-1, at least in current pre-production trim will share much of the looks of the current line, save for the obvious accommodation of the supercharger’s blower, according to a photo posted over at Corvette Forum. The newest pic looks a lot like the spy shots we showed you back in February.

Some further sleuthing on the matter has turned up a video of the ZR-1’s Laguna Seca track day, sourced from the AmericanLeMans.com podcast and uncovered by the guys at Corvette Blogger. Check out the video below to see the newest American supercar in action.
