3 Series (F30) 3er (F30) and X3 Win Best in Segment in What Car? 2012

The BMW F30 is the sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: F30 (sedan), F31 (wagon/,touring), F34 (fastback/gran turismo), and F35 (long-wheelbase). For this generation, coupé/convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series. Predecessor: BMW E90. Successors: G20 3 Series, and G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: 2011–2018.
That is another point. If they say you can't order until february, in my book, that means you can't buy it. But I'd still say that when something is offered for sale, it is on sale. That could, on the other hand, be me being rather technical.

Technically should Whatcar have placed the F30 1st at all because I am not entirely sure it has been tested on UK roads yet in a comparison test.

Video I posted above is from UK? looking at the plates its not a german car.
Another thing, these carjournalists have been driving E90, C-class and A4 for many years now and should now the differences by now?

Heck, even members here claim that F30 is the best car in the segment and they haven't even driven it :D

I'll give it to you. Your point has a stronger case.

Thank you.

Ordering and speccing is one thing. Buying is a different matter entirely. If you were correct then BMW wouldn't be announcing the on-sale date as 11th February.

When BMW dealers talk about sales figures and meeting their quarter targets, they don't count orders, they count actual sales. i.e. delivering actual vehicles to customers.

As I said, I was probably being rather technical, not taking in account the actual sales model and base for statistics. However, at least here, a sale takes place when something is ordered (or rather when the buyer assumes a responisibility to pay), not when it is delivered or paid.

Edit: But the main issue I have with "awards" like this is the timing. How on earth can they know what cars will be the best of 2012?

I didn't know it had been tested in the UK which magazine was it? Also was this an individual roadtest (first impressions or full test) or was it a proper comparison test against rivals?

Point being that until it's properly compared against it's rivals it's only a guesstimate as to whether it's actually that much better, though in all honesty I will be surprised if it doesn't blow the rest out of the water.

Autocar did a comparison with the C Class before Christmas, but it wasn't a British registered model and I don't think it was on British roads.

Check the video and you get the answer from WhatCar why it was awarded. Considering that E90 still win most of the tests one can assume the new 3er will kick ass even more ;) as I said, they driven the competitiors for years now and should know how they compare.

I think you guys are overreacting ,these awards mean nothing.
