^ because the car is 1999 tech?
^ A completely opposite result to the Motortrend test - the Jaguar is found to slower and worse handling. It might be because this time it was tested on a damp, cold track, while still wearing Zero Corsas. Whereas the Aston had less extreme tires in this test? Either way, Autocar should at least mention these details, or risk making their test pretty pointless.
Exactly. I guess the Jag's tires aren't good on a damp track.
Their test is pretty pointless. Autocar are often pointless themselves IMO.
How do you know what tires the Aston had fitted? It might have been equipped with a winter/all-season tire option. The Vantage S is also wearing racing compound slick tires ( a new improved and updated version of Corsas) much like the Jaguar much like the other predecessors. So it is not like the Vantage had an advantage in the wet.

As are some winter/all-season tires...Because they are the OEM tires on the Vantage S?

It did perform way better on damp than the Jag which wasn't the case on a dry track. It had an advantage and it most probably has to do with tires and weight. As Bridster said the Aston was most probably wearing winter tires. We cannot be sure since they didn't give any info... that's why the test is pretty pointless.
