Pathfinder 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

The Nissan Pathfinder is a range of sport utility vehicles manufactured by Nissan since 1985. Until the third-generation model, the Pathfinder is based on Nissan's compact pickup truck platform which it shares with the Navara/Frontier. The Pathfinder was marketed as the Nissan Terrano outside North America. Beginning in 2004, the R51 series was marketed internationally as the Pathfinder.

If you want to get a good idea of what the next generation Nissan Pathfinder will look like, the new Pathfinder Concept teaser images and video released by Nissan today pretty much give it away, though you can also gather much of the details in our own previously released spy shots.

Though labeled a concept, the vehicle set to debut next week at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show will show the final look of the new Pathfinder, which will hit showrooms this fall as a 2013 model.

Aside from that, we know that Nissan will use the FF-L platform for the 2013 Pathfinder, which already underpins the recently revealed 2013 Infiniti JX and the existing Nissan Murano, Quest, Maxima and Altima.

Since the SUV is moving away from body-on-ladder-frame construction, expect the latest Pathfinder to forgo some off-road capability for improved on-road handling, much like Ford’s revamped Explorer. It will also be able to carry seven passengers thanks to third-row seats.

We still don’t have news on what engine choices the 2013 Pathfinder will offer, but a version of Nissan’s 3.5-liter V-6, as used in both the Quest and Murano, seems like a fairly safe bet. One thing's for certain, the added safety of all-wheel drive will still be offered.

The actual Pathfinder also has 7 places. I like its off-road capabilities and the fact you can drive it as RWD only. The new one looks alot more premium inside.

Looks great. Very improved, inside out. Impressive job from Nissan & Imo, the best-looking truck in its class yet. :usa7uh:

Looks good. Sleeker with the right dose of ruggedness. It's a nice evolution of the 2nd gen design, which was my favorite Pathfinder.

Interior, for some reason, seems fussy to me....too many knobs. Or it might be the wood-trim. Or the beige color. I think in black, it'll look solid.

Don't like the massive chrome spars flanking the grille but for the rest of it - not too bad, although I do get the sense that the Santa Fe has been here done this already.

You might be right about that.

On top of that I`ve read quit a few bad reports about it down the line.

I might be showing my ignorance here, but since this has a CVT, would that affect it's ability to tow?
Hmm..I don't know about that either, but most of the SUV running around here never tow anything. The only things that tow anything, around where I live, are pickup trucks. So it might not actually be an issue.

Yeah, I know that's probably case. If somebody's so keen on towing, they'd get an Armada nowadays. This isn't the rough and tumble Pathfinder of yore.

Nissan's new Pathfinder not destined for the UK says Autocar:

Nissan is presenting the next generation of its full-size Nissan Pathfinder SUV with this concept at today’s Detroit motor show – but the production model is not destined for the UK. Instead, UK buyers will continue to be offered today’s Pathfinder.

The new fourth-generation Pathfinder puts a much greater emphasis on styling this time around, featuring a more aerodynamic body with a lower belt line, muscular wheel arches and a much more recognizable front-end.

The new three-row, seven-seat Pathfinder features an all-new unibody platform, which is claimed to offer much greater flexibility in interior packaging. The platform has allowed for the more aerodynamic styling without compromising on interior space, headroom or boot capacity, Nissan claims. Perceived interior space is also improved with a large panoramic roof.

The new platform will make the imminent next-generation Pathfinder weigh considerably less than the current body-on-frame design. This in turn will greatly improve fuel economy by as much as 25 per cent, which Nissan says is at the request of current Pathfinder owners.

The concept features a V6 petrol engine of an unspecified capacity mated to a new CVT gearbox. There’s also a new four-wheel drive system that Nissan claims allows the Pathfinder to beat allcomers for towing ability.

Full details on the new Pathfinder production car will be released in the summer before the all-new model reaches US dealers in the autumn.

2013 Nissan Pathfinder Revealed

Images of the all-new 2013 Nissan Pathfinder aren’t exactly stop-the-presses news, as we’ve previously shown you both spy photos and the reveal of the 2013 Pathfinder concept at this year’s Detroit Auto Show.

Since then, the Pathfinder concept has been making the rounds at auto shows worldwide, as Nissan hopes to build interest in its iconic SUV before the upcoming fall launch.

Images of the production version are newsworthy, however, and that’s what Nissan recently posted to its Facebook page. At first glance, we’d have to say that the production version looks visually identical to the concept, which (in this case) isn’t a bad thing.

Like the new Ford Explorer, the upcoming Nissan Pathfinder abandons its body-on-frame roots for unibody construction. Since most Pathfinders spend the bulk of their time on paved roads, it makes sense for Nissan to optimize ride quality for on-road comfort, even if it does slightly reduce off-road capability.

Look for the new Pathfinder to be powered by a 3.5-liter or 3.7-liter V-6 engine, mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Nissan isn’t releasing details on power or fuel economy just yet, but it does expect the new Pathfinder to be 25-percent more fuel efficient than the model it replaces.

Like its upscale cousin, the Infiniti JX, the new Pathfinder will feature seating for seven and what Nissan refers to as a “full size interior.” It will be built on Nissan’s FF-L platform, which is shared with a variety of vehicles ranging from the Infiniti JX to the new Nissan Altima.

Dammit. I'm sick of this "homely cute" trend in cars nowadays. Everything looks so filled with molasses. The Pathfinder used to be a rugged looking Truck.

Now it looks like a friggin' MInivan for whatever's even more kid-oriented than Soccer practice.

Rude boy!
It's actually not so bad but I completely agree with you here :)
