1M 1M takes third place in 2011 Evo Car of the Year

The BMW 1 Series M Coupé (often referred to as the "1M") is the high-performance model of the E82 coupe range, sold under the BMW M performance sub-brand. While BMW naming convention would have called the car the "M1", an alternate name was chosen to avoid confusion with the BMW M1 supercar from the 1970's. Official website: BMW M
Funny comments about Pobst in there. In his defense, he only drives the cars as he is given them. When Motor Trend jacks up each car's pressures by 4 psi, then that only gives an indication of how each car behaves when the car is modified in a way that the manufacturer never intended. Some cars will behave very differently compared to others with tires designed for track lapping. Thus, it's something of a crapshoot.

I could have been any happier with the top three. Just switch the Mclaren out for the Italia.

Brilliant result for the brilliant but shockingly unavailable 1M Coupe. We're deprived of this car by BMW - its lack of availability ( please don't try and convince me it's about exclusivity ) is a joke. We've got speculators here in SA asking for ludicrous premiums on the desperately few 1Ms that made it down here. Shite colour choice too - this car was born for Space Grey. Avus Blue (remember that magnificent hue of blue) and a deep, metallic red wouldn't go amiss either.

Brilliant car, dreadful attainability. I hope its resale value falls through its arse so that the people this car ought to have been conceived for can fairly acquire one.

Thanks for spoiling this for me. The other thread just says "ECOTY 2011" and thus it's easy to avoid. Just don't click on it.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
