1972 BMW 2800 E3

This is a great looking 1972 E3 2800. Really stunning and in mint condition.

So much want for that car, absolutely lovely sample....Wonder if the pandemic would bring down the 2nd hand prices.....hmmmm

Those wheels on that car.

Guy oughta have his ass removed </clint eastwood>

The 3.0Si is, to me, the quintessential E3.:

Nice write-up:

Almost always eclipsed by the later 3.0, history has forgotten BMW's 2800. Strange,...

My parents bought a silver 1971 2800 new, late in '71. It had a 4-speed manual gearbox and was geared for the German market though, and would run up to nearly 50 mph in 1st. In spite on it's cumbersome performance at low speeds, it was an excellent highway car, easily cruising well above 100 mph.

My dad sold it to a friend of my younger brother who also had a '71 2800 CS, in blue with blue leather. They made a perfect pair. By that time the sedan had just over 600,000 miles on it and still would pull nearly 150 mph on a long straight. The driver's door was showing its age on the inside but the car was in very good condition. My dad enjoyed the frustration it caused several drivers of big-engined American cars when he was crossing Nevada in the mid-1970s. They all could leave him behind accelerating up to ~100, but after that he just walked away. More than once, he had a guy who had recently been passed, follow him into a gas stop to ask, "What the hell is that thing. NOTHING has ever left me behind like that!!" BMWs just weren't well known in the US at that time. It was fun.

Hi there!

Cant believe I stumbled upon this.

Let me know if you are still interested in the vehicle!
The vehicle has been loved and well looked after.
BMW SA often borrow it to display in their showrooms!

Its going on the market officially in the coming days.
