The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants.
The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.
It looks like BMW will be using GM-styled camo on all their up coming cars. I love the Z4 and this one look very promising, the creases on the bonnet look similar to the ones on the face lifted 3er. The kidney grill look interesting as well, tipping like a shark very similar to the CS concept. Proportion-wise it's very appealing and the tail lights look similar to what Huckfeld predicted. Rims are very hot though.
I for one like the look of this already. I'm just so glad they still have hints of flame surfacing on the bodywork because i was afraid they would tone it down too much on the next z4.
Love the shape of the kidney's alot more aggresive than the previous, maybe BMW are going to introduce a more varied range or grills now.
Is this car gonna be good or is this car gonna be good?!?
Even from these shots, the essence of the small BMW roadster remains; compact, cab-backward design with your bum almost on the rear axle. A perfect recipe for a nostalgic roadster experience. Bring on the Z4 3.5Tii or whatever the hell BMW are (inevitably daftly) going to call it. That would be the roadster to end all roadsters in its class. Bye bye my beloved Boxster...
Looks like it it also has some deep character lines....this time it seems the flow of the lines is very organic...very promissing.... I just hope it has some nice, aggressive headlights ... IMO look of the current Z4 suffered from its less than optimal headlight design.
I think it looks great. Looks already more upscale than the current Z4!
The greenhouse looks absolutely amazing!!
The camo makes it tough on the eyes! I wish there was as little as on the F01
i would really like to know what mathematical scheme lies behind that pattern - i have seen several patterns that are intended to disorts camera lenses and the human eye, but that seems to be the first one which succseds
Hot damn, this looks really, really juicy. Great to see that the "Zepplin Scaffolding" lines from the E60 are being advanced further. The porportions and overall thrust of the character lines tell me that this is going to be a winner.
And (dropping blood in the shark tank) thank God there's going to be a hardtop.
About the camo - I think BMW could really, really stymie photographers if they used camo that had shaded gradient lines that intersect and mimic the appearance of character folds/creases. This camo, busy as it is, didn't work out all that great. I can clearly visualze most of the key character lines running the flanks and hood of the car. The design is already half-spoiled.
By the way - Anybody know a halfway accurate release date for the E89?
interesting, though it still does seem to resemble the Z4 alot!
can someone tell my why this car still has a code beginnging with "E" as in E89? I was under the impression that all car post F01 will be coded with "F"?
