Marc Kirsch’s diploma project was created in collaboration with Volkswagen design in Wolfsburg Germany. A three-seat prototype car powered by an electric engine. The project was created considering the visual and conceptional influence of internationally renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Kirsch created a vehicle that enables a higher level of comfort whilst enhancing the driving experience and promoting ecological values. The target was to create a visionary concept car, shaped and based on the Calatravian motto of “dynamic balance” through the use of new technologies.
The popular shapes used by Calatrava are recognized in the design of the Viseo concept with a large glass surface area completely covered in a flexible OLED film. This guarantees an innovative safety and communication concept allowing the vehicle to communicate externally.

Every now and then images of outlandish concept vehicles surface but usually these turn out to be just one individual’s creation, drawn up on their PCs at home. Sometimes, however, car companies actually work together with these individuals to help create a concept that could potentially represent a design direction for a future model.

Earlier today we saw the 2018 Mazda3 concept by industrial design student Mallory McMorrow and now we have the Volkswagen Viseo concept, penned by German design student Marc Kirsch in collaboration with Volkswagen Design.

The Viseo is a three-seater electric vehicle with lines inspired by the works of architect Santiago Calatrava. The rear compartment of the car can be detached and doubles as a suitcase. Some of the other features of the concept include a large glass surface area and organic LED illumination.

probably be totally different in the end. They go from cool to crappy "egg shape" price leader.

The end result of the VW is it looks fairly crappy when compared to these 3 concepts. As for the detachable suitcase... well apart from the risk of all your valuables getting damaged in a minor fender-bender... but umm, that size suitcase is usually for long vacations (ie: on a plane or cruise) and you can guarantee that your suitcase is going to get scratched along the way. Would you want to put your scratched and damaged suitcase back into the butt of your VW.

Cute little innovation, but not very practical IMO.

One more thing... errr, how exactly do you get out with that plastic turtle shell surrounding you ? ...hmmm.
