Looks like ashgrey wood like in the W222?
It does actually, MB is putting out some really unique trim lately.

@Wolfgang, does Benz intend on offering alternative materials for the transmission console, or is this just a pipe dream. It has been almost a year since the sedan was shown.
Here's a new E with open pore ash wood.
This carbon fiber center console may experience a production bottleneck at present?

Looks overdone to me, I would rather prefer the standard piano black trim
First suspected MB reduced options initially to ensure production quality of the new model, but now it seems the interior design team lead by Hartmut Sinkwitz may have called this one. They allegedly tested several center console layouts with wood and structured metal, and decided it was in conflict with their sensual purity theme. Too much wood and structured surfaces on the center console looked too baroque and stuck-up to them, or some such. Other options may emerge later on.

The quarter glass is there. On the video, at 15 seconds, its clearly visible. No quarter glass here?

Seems Harmut Sinkwitz agrees with you.![]()
But the gloss black console is a pain in the ass to keep clean and a micro scratch nightmare. I hate it on my BMW. Sinkwitz needs to think about real people in the real world trying to keep their cars looking good.
So now I'm confused. Is the open pore trim available or not?
^ perhaps they need to work on a super strong scratch resistant coating?
