Not sure if this is worth opening a new thread, but still, here are some news from the WCF:
2017 Mercedes E-Class Coupe & Convertible to be larger & more dramatic - report
Will likely move upmarket
New details are starting to emerge about the 2017 Mercedes E-Class Coupe and Convertible.
According to Car Magazine, the models will have an evolutionary design but adopt a more dramatic appearance thanks to shorter overhangs and a lower and wider stance. The cars are also slated to be larger than their predecessors which should help distance them from the C-Class Coupe and Convertible.
The models will also get a technical makeover as they are slated to receive everything from a heads up display to a semi-autonomous driving mode. We can also expect an advanced infotainment system with revised controls
Power will reportedly be provided by an assortment of engines including a new straight six with outputs ranging from 200-400 bhp (149- 298 kW). We can also expect four-cylinder petrol and diesel units as well as a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with as much as 600 bhp (447 kW) and 553 lb-ft (749 lb-ft) of torque.
If that's not enough options, there will reportedly be a hybrid and two plug-in hybrid variants. The mild hybrid will reportedly have a 40 bhp (30 kW) electric motor and electric-only range of 3 miles (4.8 km). The plug-in hybrids, on the other hand, will reportedly have an 80 bhp (59 kW) and 110 bhp (82 kW) electric motor and an electric-only range of up to 30 miles (48.2 km).
Nice, and probably expected. But, I would rather like to see new members in the CLS family (i.e. 2 door CLS and Convertible), than extension of the E Class family.
