S-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.
I loved it. I'd drive it, it's very decent ... not really loud like other AMGs. The exhaust note is perhaps a little too tame for some, I like it, it suits the car. It feels a lot smaller than it's dimensions (I feel the same about the C215, but not about the C216, which feels huge)

I think a 500/550 would be enough, and the new engines are easy to tune. What were your thoughts ?

^ The S65 Coupe takes its a notch further. Aside from loud cold start, the exhaust is even quieter.

The V12's (600 & 65) power delivery is butter, silky (insert related words) smooth. The way the 65 accelerates from 70-120 and with ease and silence it does it with is still unrivaled. While MBC is not as magic as it its on the tin, its smoothest car I've driven.

This is the last of the old school comfort-oriented, front-engine, rear-drive GTs. Highly recommended driving experience if you have the opportunity.

Compared to my old CL65, the S65 coupe is a lot more compact. As nice as the CL65 was, its always felt excessively big and porky. That being said, the S65 wouldn't be at home on twisty back roads and rightfully so.

@sako97
I am glad I am not the only one who finds the C216 'big'. I know exactly what you mean. Did you have the non facelift CL65, before they added direct steering ?

Have you ever driven a CL63 or the S63 Coupe ? The V8s are noisier and less torquey I guess. Do you feel the weight of the V12 up front ? I am genuinely interested, the V12s are fairly rare here, so I've never had a chance.

Had a first model year - 90,000 km and zero issues. Took a depreciation beating however. Never drove the CL facelift and also never thought the 6.2L belonged in the C216.

Never noticed extra front weight in any of MB V12 offerings. Quick research shows the dry weight of M275 V12 (221kg) is not much more than the M157 V8 (209 kg) either. The Bentley GT comes to mind, where differences are night and day between V8 & W12.

I driven and ridden in the new S63 sedan extensively and as much as I like the like the look, power, and other niceities - objectively, it doesn't drive much differently than the S550.

I'm a new member to this forum. Considering getting the S65 Coupe. Drove it and fell in love! Concerned about reliability. Any know issues with this car? By the way, Many of the pictures and the videos, including the one by Mr. Liberman were taken on Mulholland Hwy and Pacific Coast Hwy (PCH) here in Agoura Hills and Malibu (Where I live).

Concerned with reliability? It will be no better or worse than any other high end Mercedes or Mercedes at all.
