C-Class W205 [Official] Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205)

The Mercedes-Benz W205 is the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which was produced by Daimler AG between 2014 and 2021. The W205 C-Class was preceded by the W204 C-Class and superseded by the W206 C-Class. The fourth-generation C-Class was available in sedan (W205), station wagon/estate (S205), coupe (C205), cabriolet (A205) and long-wheelbase sedan (V205) body styles.
W205 C class tire pressure.
Gentlemen, any idea to get the right tire pressure for the 2017 C class? I have Continental RF 18 in tires. MB suggest 39 psi for the front and 41 psi for the rear which I think way too high. I recently measure all 4 tires and they are about 33 psi. I put 35 psi on all 4 tires. Is it reasonable? Your inputs please.

I used to have mine at 36 psi all around but now I am running close to 40 psi. The ride comfort actually improved slightly. Btw my tires are Continental RF 19 in.

Thank you, Monster. I will try to set as MB suggests. Mine is Continental RF 18 in.

After reading all these complaints and I just can't help thinking that Mercedes screwed big time with the W205. What a shame.

I have about 4000 miles on my W205 MY 2017. so far so good, no issue yet. I think for a typical German car, you should wait about 2 years from the debut to make sure all/most the issues are ironed out.

Nice, no squeaks or rattles?

Car could have been better, it just doesn't feel as solid or as well built as the W204.

Whilst the W204 felt solid on the inside, the design was functional and not luxurious at all. There absense of inlays across the dash and upper centre console made it look cold. The handling however was a huge leap from the forgettable W203. With the W205 and CLA/A-Class, Mercedes finally have an entry level portfolio that’s cool and attractive to younger buyers.

For too long the brand has been too conservative and even started falling behind Audi and their TT on the coolness barometer. I find the W205 very fresh and spirited but still looks like an expensive Mercedes. Fair enough some Parts of the interior could be of better quality, but the 3-Series isn’t benchmarking in that area either.

For sure, I really like the way the entire 205 series looks both inside and out, it is just that I wish it was built more tightly.

I have good experience in W204 a few and the W205 I have the first batch from the SA factory and the W204 was more hard core or solid..The W205 is a more youthful yet luxurious car I think the W205 has a better balance as a car..Yeah my W205 has one swueak around the centre console rest is well built now nearing 30 thousand miles a beautiful.car.to drive daily..

I can’t disagree more truthfully, and I say this as a previous W204 owner. The W205 looks upscale and delivers the “wow” factor to younger people like me in a way the W204 never could. Yes, build quality is perhaps not as good as the W204 but it advanced the game in other areas.

Also let’s not forget the W204’s interior was nothing to write home about pre-facelift; it was commonly criticized here in the U.S. for being cheap. Add that to the C300 4-Matic’s (pre-facelift) tendency to suffer transfer case failures and I think the W205 is just fine. :)

I haven't had much experience with the W204 or 205 besided the usual once overs at the local dealers etc..but as there are a few owners on this forum, I would be eager to know that what issues are people exactly referring to when the say the 205 has inferior build quality to the 205, bar the doors as they are of a lighter metal..I have seen quite a few now and they seem just fine, of course there are a few niggles here and there but I would be most certain that this is due to maybe the earlier/ex demonstrater cars..

Not yet. I'm trying to look for those noises , but so far no complain. Acceleration is good, passing power is excellent, and braking performance is fantastic. Gas mileage is just O.K. I average 24-25 mile/gal, since the traffic is real bad in the Bay Area. You will never know, so enjoy every driving mile while you can.

Agreed! I've written a bit of a spiel about the evident lack of build quality in the W205 over in this thread:

MB could easily fix these issues and with a little more care the W205 could go from being a 'good' car to being an excellent car. Some more attention to the build quality and further suspension development to smooth out the ride, they were definitely not as adept with RFT's as BMW when they signed off on the W205's suspension settings, and the W205 will be the car it's supposed to be. It still looks fantastic to me, externally and internally, and with the new widescreen command, digital instrument panel and and steering mounted touch pads the Command system should be where it needs to be. I have my fingers crossed the FL addresses all of these issues.

Failing to get some of these criticisms.
I've owned every generation of C-class since it replaced the 190-E. I even drove a 190 for several months.
I have a 2016 and here are my complaints. No spare tire. I hate this. the standard headlights are terrible. They look so empty and really take away from what is otherwise a nice design. Other than that, no much to critique. Sure, the screen is a bit odd, but I've gotten used to it.

as a sales rep, I come in contact with hundreds of C's in addition to my own personal car, and my experience is that it is light years ahead of the model it replaced. Better interior materials, whether wood or plastic. The 4 cyl has been excellent, easily out performing the V6 it replaced. The highway ride is smooth and quiet, granted i don't have the sport package.
Still, the car corners well and i live in a very mountainous area. My personal car has clicked over 30k miles and it is rattle free, despite my aggressive driving and less than desirable road conditions. I love the styling and think this one has aged very well.

I'd say if you put 19"s on the previous C-class you'd have the same complaints.

That is good to hear, mine has about 4.2k miles and have this squeak and rattle at the front and around the rear door.

That was to be expected because the C is full of bugs and glitches. Brand new car in a new factory so clearly there will be problems for a while.

M
indeed, got some and things r continuing ... m worried and concerned... no more south African made car, if MB wants to continue in this policy, most probably i will change to another brand...

I've got the C43, upgraded from a CLA 250. Much more comfortable, quieter and obviously powerful. Also got the design brown interior which really makes it feel upmarket.

I also got the sport exhaust, which is a must if you ask me. Adds some fun to car and it sounds great! I think the car is smooth enough and very agile. Haven't had any issues yet, though only had it since October. I have one rattle from the area of the rearview mirror when temps dip below 60 degrees and that's about it.

Mind you the only issues I had with my CLA were a two door rattles and a headlight turning pink in the 3rd year, all of which were covered by MB.
