GLC [Spyshots] Mercedes 2016 GLC (GLK Coupe)

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a compact luxury crossover SUV introduced in 2015 for the 2016 model year that replaced the GLK-Class. According to Mercedes-Benz, it is the SUV equivalent to the C-Class.
^ Or the render might be the long wheel base version of the GLA, with more rear legroom, similar to the CLA? :)

The Chinese market is forcing Mercedes to do some silly things. A LWB CLA makes no sense. It doesn't ride like an E or an S nor is it as quiet inside so what is the point of a LWB model? Get a C Class LWB IMO.

I think Mercedes can make this work. Is this the X4 competitor? They're on a hot streak in terms of design. Come on Mercedes! The ball is in your court!

I think they need to forget it. BMW is going mad with all these model variants. Mercedes should concentrate on segments with more volume.

I'm just wondering how many entry level models let alone CUVs Mercedes need in such a short period of time from 2012-2016 they have had the A,B, CLA,GLA, GLC, MLC models added to the lineup, (except for the A and B class) in terms of crossovers or whatever they are classified as we will have 3 before we know it once the GLC and MLC debut, though of all i'm excited to see how the MLC will turn out

2015 / 2016 Mercedes GLC spied with a curvaceous body

Our spies belive it could be an early prototype for the GLC 63 AMG

Work continues on the Mercedes GLC - previously known at the GLK - as our spies have caught another prototype undergoing testing in Europe.

Despite being dressed in swirly camouflage, we can see the redesigned model will eschew the blocky styling of its predecessor. The end result will be a more curvaceous crossover which follows the same styling themes as the rest of the Mercedes lineup.

Our spies couldn't get close enough to snap interior photos on this occasion but previous shots have shown the cabin will carry over from the C-Class and feature a new steering wheel, a freestanding infotainment system and higher quality materials.

Engine will also carryover from the C-Class, so expect an assortment of familiar petrol and diesel options. There should also be a new AMG variant with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 476 PS (350 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.

Mercedes Concept GLC Coupe design study revealed
Mercedes has released a sketch of its Concept GLC Coupe. Described as ‘near-production-standard,’ the four-door concept SUV appears to take the GLE Coupe’s form in a more compact size.

The non-Coupe Mercedes GLC isn’t due to arrive in the UK until late 2015, targeting compact SUVs like the BMW X3 and Land Rover Discovery Sport.

It will share powerplants0f19c9f479bdc177b6a3970c2d2abf44.webp with the C-Class saloon, meaning it’ll receive a range of turbo petrol and 2.1-litre diesel engines. It’s likely a plug-in hybrid and AMG-Sport variant will also follow.

If this Concept GLC Coupe makes production, in AMG-Sport form it could also receive that car’s 3-litre twin-turbo V6 (first featured in the new C450 AMG-Sport), with as much as 362bhp and 370lb ft on offer.

The Shanghai design study Concept is expected to make an appearance at the Shanghai motor show later this month. There's no word as to whether it'll make production as of yet.

First Look: Mercedes GLC Coupe Coming to Shanghai, Will Rival BMW X4

Mercedes has released the first teaser photo for the GLC Coupe, a brand new Sports Activity Coupe that will be shown at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show later this month. It targets a brand new niche that had just been created when BMW introduced the X4. Exciting stuff!

The GLC Coupe also plays a secondary role as a preview for the upcoming GLK replacement. The SUV is almost ready for production and according to our sources will be shown before the Frankfurt Auto Show.

Mercedes SUVs have always been classy and comfortable, but the GLC Coupe looks aggressive and sporty, even more so than its GLE cousin. A lot is known about its underpinnings already since they are shared with the new C-Class family. The Germans have been able to keep weight down using lots of aluminum, and new technologies will be implemented.

For example, we're pretty sure you'll be able to order air suspension. The engine range will closely mirror that of the W205 C-Class sedan, right down to the hybrid and the diesels. An AMG model was already confirmed, but it will most likely take the form of the GLC 450, powered by a twin-turbo V6, not the bigger V8 used by the C63.

367 PS should be enough to compete with the existing X4 xDrive35i model. However, BMW are working on a brand new twin-turbo inline-6 engine that's also going into the M2.

"The Concept GLC Coupe design study transforms the successful GLE Coupé formula into a more compact segment by combining typical coupé stylistic features with the sensual and pure design idiom of forthcoming Mercedes SUVs," Mercedes says about this concept on social media.

We'll be the judge we check out the GLC Coupe live at the Shanghai Auto Show, so stay tuned.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe study to debut on Monday
Previews BMW X4 rival

Mercedes-Benz has announced the GLC Coupe "near-production-standard study" will premiere on Monday at Auto Shanghai 2015.

The Daimler-owned marque took its sweet time coming out with a rival for the BMW X6 and now they are preparing a competitor for its smaller brother, the X4. The GLC Coupe near-production concept will take the shape of a "crossover coupe" based on the second generation GLK set to be renamed GLC to emphasize its close connections with the C-Class.

It will be the GLE Coupe's smaller brother so it's not that hard to image how it will end up looking in production form. The regular GLC will allegedly debut in June so chances are the GLC Coupe will be out in the first half of next year. Unlike the previous GLK which never received the fully-fledged AMG treatment, the new model and its "coupe" sibling will get a GLC 63 AMG / GLC 63 AMG Coupe version with a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine. There's also going to be an AMG Sport version with a twin-turbo V6 3.0-liter sitting below the aforementioned GLC 63 AMG.

Another first for the GLK will be a right-hand drive version which will allow Mercedes-Benz to sell the models in additional markets such as Australia and Japan.
