M2 BMW M2 [official thread]

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M

Picked my M2 up this afternoon (Tuesday 6th Sep). Just a quick post to say it is utterly intoxicating. My first impressions are that it just goes to show with the right set up, you don't need fancy adaptive suspension. Already I feel it's the most composed M car I've ever owned/driven. And the noise. It sounds so special and every inch a proper M car, of that there is no doubt. I'll try and post some more thoughts over the next few days, but on Thursday I'm flying to the U.S. and Chile for a week, so I won't be driving it that much.

Just one photo which was taken in God's own country, Yorkshire, in the North of England, on the drive home. I used a filter in order to show a true representation of what Long Beach Blue looks like in real life. It really does look green.

Wow!!! I haven't seen an M car or any BMW for that matter in Long Beach Blue. The colour looks stunning, can only imagine it irl.

Eagerly awaiting what more you have to say on the car. And I know it's early days but do let us know how you're getting on mpg wise. Thanks.

Need a car sitter whilst you're away?

I can help get the running in mileage out of the way for you ;)

I didn't realize how green LBC blue is. Look forward to a more in-depth take on it. To quote your countrymen, it looks absolutely mega.

Thanks a lot Betty for your first impressions. I wish you always a safe drive. :)

A few days ago I have seen the first M2 in LBB and I have to say it's a very beautyful colour but I would advise everybody who is interested to choose this colour to look it before ordering.

You my friend will be getting into God's own country on Thursday

No, and I can tell you right here and now that it's not coming either. People are not going to pay 150k for a 2er.

In the meantime though, my dear friends of IND made this:

Should have been standard. It looks spectacular!

This really should be an optional extra

There is going to be another M2 as a limited edition as the 2002 Hommage points to more production ready aesthetics than the CSL Hommage and after all 2002 Hommage is based on an M2 but with specific tweaks. You will see spy pictures of disguised M2's which offer nothing visually but there is specific additions being tested.
I am not entirely sure whether they will call it GTS,Competition,CSL or Club Sport.
Given its E30 heritage I would be happy with Evo.

E30 M3 Evo models were used to homologate things for racing were they not?

Given there is no motorsport program announced for the M2 I don't think they should use that name, personally. I guess it depends on what the changes are.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
