7 Series [Spy shots] BMW 7er (G11) Spy Pics & Info

The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automaker BMW since 1977. It is the successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" sedan. The 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available in a sedan bodystyle (including long wheelbase and limousine models). It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before other models in BMW's lineup.

The gap, or some sort of gap, that's there beneath the HVAC/audi controls is not that much of an issue to me. But I would like to see some of the layering motif that is seen in the X5 and VFL.

In the VFL, it uses all the high-end material and quite a bit of it, but it's done in a manner that's three-dimensional yet unobtrusive, giving this sense that is integral to the interior. Now, of course, the good folks will not fully replicate a concept car's interior, but I would like some of the theme to have carried over into the 7er.

However, as stated, many, many times...these are low-res pics. I'll try to limit opining on this until better pics are revealed.

That lo-res interior pic hides a lot of classy detailing, trim and finishes. Just wait and see. Busy interiors are so yesterday; the plethora of buttons, knobs and switches is a tired practice now.

Haha! Martinbo, I was just writing this when you posted:)

I think the simplicity of this G11's interior will actually work better at emphasizing the details this BMW is bound to get, and keep it from looking gaudy or overwrought.

It also gives a nice 'airy' feeling to the car, emphasizing it's lightweight construction perhaps. Will look fantastic with the Sky Lounge.

Hmm...

I've been mulling over these images for the past few days. This is the thread that i always look for and its not changed through the development of each iteration of the 7. If i'm being totally honest, i was extremely underwhelmed by the leaked images, there was really nothing to say as i had felt that i'd seen it all before.

But.. but upon reflection i've come to realize that it's not so bad. The exterior design is unoffensive and is probably the exact route they should be taking for their flagship saloon. The lighting in the images doesn't help but you can tell the surfacing will be very similar to the F01 and i like the single hoff kink which just seems to add some bulk and solidity to that c pillar. I like the rear with it's sloping boot ala VFL and the gran lusso.

The interior is refreshing to my eyes and i'm glad they have added metallic switchgear (it's a detail i've been moaning about for years) even though it does give off a 'late 90s Pioneer amplifier' vibe.. I'm just waiting for clearer images so i can make a better judgement but overall i'm happy this car seems pure BMW to me, it's not trying to be something that it's not.

@SCOTT27

Questions for you- is this 730d a mid-level specification vehicle? Will this G11 use the current "lines" or will be it use "worlds" like the i models?

I'm trying to determine whether this is the standard bumper styling or not.

This is the standard model , there is an M Sport Packet available also. I do not think the 7er will use lines because it is a luxury car but you will be offered BMW individual options to make it stand out further.
This is the entry 730d which uses the four cylinder engine. This is the car that weighs around the same as the current 520d.

Some car sites reported the new 7 would offer the possibilty to order the new 7 in two different lines, the "Design Pure Excellence" and the "M Sport".

The current 730d uses a six cylinder engine so doubt they would downsize to a 4 cylinder engine in this model but have a lower powered model such as a 725d (like similar to X5) or like Mercedes has done in offering a 2.0ltr diesel with hybrid pack maybe for a 730Hybrid model. As for the weight issue we will have to wait (excuse the pun) till the official specs come out but I also doubt it will weigh the same as the 520d (1705kg as Auto) while current 730d is 1915kg.

i don't have an issue with the chrome strip at the back, i just think that butt doesn't have that presence, the prominence that a flagship should have. Without counting back too far back, i think with the E38, E65 and F01, there is just that character of "i am the top model" and mature look; while this rear doesn't look bad, it doesn't have that feel to it.

It would make sense for 730d to be i6, and 725d to be i4, like in x5. Or maybe there wount be 725d at all, and 730d will get 2l 4cyl engine as an entry model
