E-Class W213 [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
finally all can see some good photos after a lonnnng time!!!!,

looking at the car, all I can say according to these spy photos, is that it is simply amazing, so far looking at the greenhouse, detailing and overall profile it is everything I expect from it, the only thing i'm not sure of however is the lights, what are they thinking, it is ditto C, S-clamss where is the E uniqueness gone? still I have faith in MB and I am sure there is a logical explanation of this.

The only differences I see are the shoulder line, a slightly different rearlights (the way they wrapp around the side profile). Maybe the front bumper is different as well.

But yep, so far too close.

Oh, it's pretty logical: they want all cars to look exactly like the other.

@SKY yeah, the character line is most noticeable. A real shame this one has a great character line, and the C and S have this retarded dropping line. It's the single greatest improvement over the C and S. I dislike the dropping character line with a passion.

so far can be seen it would be superior to the current E in every way, it already looks a world apart with it's lovely smoothly flowing design, and the superb implementation of the dropping line which now clearly would be placed slightly higher than the C,S and would also curve downwards much less dramatically adding more IMO Germanic solidity in it's design, the coupe version grill is looking incredibly tough and Germanic almso, maybe for the first time I would prefer this to the traditional saloon grill? time would tell, however so far it does look like it could

Ooooh this is looking real good. I want to say I see a lot of W211 in that shape. They are surely testing the hell out of it. If this E launches with the new I6 engines this will be as close to the old days (W124) as you can get.

I've heard through the grapevine the new I6 engines will not be in the W213 from introduction on (2016), but not sooner as in 2017. Perhaps Wolfgang knows more.

I think that is highly possible given that MB don't really introduce new car and new engine at the same time, but then again designing a car to switching from V engines to inline engines aren't cheap either.

It is rare for them to do that, but they have done it before. The camo seems to be coming off faster than usual, it is possible we might see this car at Frankfurt instead of Geneva 2016?

M

I HOPE it launches with the new engines. MB needs to be ensure they're competitive with the engine lineup from the onset. Engines and gearbox have been a stumbling block for too long.

That said they better test the hell out of it.

jesmb.de writes that not all new engines will be available from the start of production in 03/2016. Mainly the petrol R6 3,0 should not come before 2017. So maybe they will offer only 4 cylinder petrol engines and the new R6 diesels. There should be no V8, the strongest biturbo R6 3,0 state of tune should provide 430 PS.

Only 430 hp? That's too little for the top of the line E class (non AMG), imo.

I respectfully disagree.. I think that's more than enough power for a garden variety E-class.
