I'm not a fan of the X6, but a lot of people queued to buy one and the car turned to be more successful than BMW expected.

Unfortunately there aren't many segments left to be explored. Zietche wants Merc to be No.1 by 2020 which means they are left with no choice but to make these weird ones, its the numbers that matters.

Don't know that the new style translates as well in coupe/cabrio form.
I must say that BMW styled the 4 significatly different than the sedan and it is one of the sexiest shapes on the road.
Same for Audi and the A5.

We love the amount of differentiation from the CLA. The C class is a more grown-up car. The car has S-class styling cues. The interior is a clear differentiator from the entry CLA. It is more crafted, more luxurious and more stylized. The whole cockpit has a feeling of attention to detail like the S class.

From a technology standpoint, the C class will boast all of the Intelligent Drive attributes that the S class has and that will not be available on the CLA. This is the fastest we have ever migrated the top technology from an S-class platform onto an entry product -- nine months.



What will be different with the C-class coupe?

This time, the differentiation with the coupe and sedan will be spectacular. In the last generation, we re-engineered a coupe on a sedan. This time they were engineered from birth. Which means it is more aggressive and sportier than ever before. On top of that, we will add the cabriolet. It will give folks the option of open driving at a new price point for Mercedes-Benz. The E class was the entry convertible before.



How long after the sedan will you roll out the C-class coupe and convertible?

2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet spied up close
Could debut at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show

A prototype of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet has been spied undergoing testing on a wet day.

Mercedes-Benz recently unveiled the C-Class Estate so now they are putting the finishing touches on other derivatives set to arrive next year. The first of the bunch will be a coupe variant which will be followed by this, a C-Class Cabriolet. Although at first Mercedes-Benz were thinking about installing a metal roof, the model will adopt a multi-layered soft top with a design closely echoing the one on the larger E-Class Cabriolet.

Engine lineup will be taken over from the other body styles and will be topped by a C63 AMG variant powered by a newly developed twin-turbo V8 engine. A 4MATIC all-wheel drive arrangement will likely be offered as well along with the AIRSCARF neck-level heating and AIRCAP air-deflection systems.

An official launch of the four-seater open-top C-Class will likely occur in September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales to commence before the end of that year or in 2016. Chances are it will end up being more affordable than the SLK which will make it the cheapest Mercedes-Benz convertible.
