The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (C197 / R197) is a front mid-engine, 2-seater, limited production sports car developed by the Mercedes-AMG division of Mercedes-Benz, with the assistance of David Coulthard. The car is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. SLS stands for "Super Leicht Sport" (Super Light Sport).

how does that lap time compare to the competition?
Well. They did 1.11,9 min with a Turbo PDK at the same conditions. Previously they did 1.11,5 min with the Turbo.
1.12,0 min for the Nissan GT-R - tested by AMS.

Those are some very impressive numbers, though I'm unsure they are strong enough to hold back the 458 Italia and MP4-12C.
 
This is most interesting. I just knew for sure the Mercedes wouldn't be doing better than these cars around a track? Have they really built a car equally at home on the road as it is on the track?

There is a comparison in new Autobild featuring 997 Turbo PDK, R8 V10 and SLS.

SLS was fastest on the track and also set a new record on Contidrom beating GT-R.

SLS : 1:30,7s
Turbo PDK : 1:31,0s
R8 V10 : 1:32,0s

I just want to hear what the AMG haters have to say now..
The car is still as AMG as ever..and as Mercedes as ever..
But suddenly spanking the much praised competition..
I mean maybe its time to give respect where its due..

No, it is actually the Nissan Primera haters that should be asked. The Primera relates to the GTR the same way everyday AMGs does to the SLS.

My exaggregation, of course.

Im afraid that badge wont ever grace something as exotic as the SLS..unless BMW stops being gay:D
 
But if* AMG has already proven itself, why would it be interesting to ask the haters for their veiw now?

*) I for one do think that what the SLS manages to do to its competition, the C63 and E63 have already done.
 
^As haters hated on the SLR..claiming they cant make a real sports car..

you see hate comes in different layers..

And layer by layer its being answered by AMG..
 
Don't you agree that, from a sportscar perspective, the SLS seems much more accomplishes then the SLR? Was the critisism of the SLR, from that perspective, just?

Oh, well, AMG has done a very good job with the SLS, no doubt. AMG has come a long way the last 5 years.
