Dear readers, I apologize for my somewhat diminutive lack of articles lately, I've been swamped the last few days with work from "the other job" as well as a few behind the scenes maintenance tasks with this site. By week's end, all will be well with the world, and I will be able to return to my regular number of postings, I promise.

Despite the lack of posting, there really wasn't much Mercedes news making headlines today, although for the second day in a row the guys over at Jalopnik have found an equisite Mercedes oddity.

The lucky winner this time is a station wagon conversion for the W220 Mercedes S-Class, which, although slightly better than the Mercedes MP3 player, still won't be gracing my driveway anytime soon.

The vehicle in question comes from the lovely city of Vienna, Austria, and to put it simply, is big, green, and slightly "Volvo-esque" in the rear. Then again, as a former Volvo owner I tend to associate all station wagons with Volvo, so my vision may be somewhat skewed.

Actually I disagree Artist, I would buy one for a start - there would be a big market for it I'm sure - the S class is a good practical size, this would be an excellent vehicle for people like me who have dogs etc..

Too bad it look's terrible in the rear.
I've actually seen pictures of W140 estates at the AMG factory, is this something AMG is willing to do in-house?

Well I don't think it looks bad - better than most wagons I think.

what you want is an R-class then!! haaaaaa

i like it. A truly good looking wagon. BTW, the rear lights, could look a bit better...

I think it loos good too and sure it would sell even more than the E class version. The rear could use some work or even a better detail, but it looks very classy too me.

The "station wagon" part of that W220 S-Class is so S210 E-Class estate! :D

IMHO though, it doesn't look that good. Sorta destroys the graceful lines of the W220. And I recall reading something in a magazine which stated that an S-Class estate would flop. People who buy such cars are generally happy with the big trunk space already offered by the S-Class. Also, if they have a family and an S-Class, it's likely that they also have an M-Class or an E-Class ESTATE in their garage for exactly such "family purposes". ;)

That is probably true actually - the E class is an excellent estate wagon (or station wagon) with generous rear luggage space - the idea of an S class wagon is really nice but probably not viable in reality.

What in the whole world is this? For crying out loud get a Ford Galexy or something. Why ruin a S-class. :t-banghea

I would buy one if I could find one for sale.

I own and S500 & E350 Wagon. This would be the perfect combo!
