As world premiere Mercedes shows to Detroit car show Top models of the s-class from the internal Tuningschmiede AMG. Full 612 HP and 1,000 Nm torque stand for the luxury liner to beech.

Its strength, whose HP maximum between 4.750 and 5.100/min. lies close, scoops the V12-Biturbo from 5.980 cubic centimeters capacity. In things 570 Nm are to already fit to torque, with 1.500 routes 750 Nm with 1.000/min - starting from 2.000/min it becomes four digit.

In such a manner under pressure takes itself the AMG s class for keeps in track on 100 things 4.4 seconds time, speed 200 is after 13.3 seconds to be achieved. Acoustically the sport exhaust system with two chromium-plated double final pipes underlines the sound of twelve-cylinder.
Group brake and a transmission character
For an appropriate delay the again-developed AMG brake assembly on basis adaptive Brake of the system of Mercedes provides. At the front axle a new double fist saddle is used, which combines the advantages of a swimming saddle brake and a brake calipers brake according to AMG data. At the rear axle large fist framework saddle and bite themselves into 365 millimeters large group brake disks perform their work - the counterparts at the front spar and measure 390 millimeters in the diameter. The high speed brake assembly is covered in front and 275/40 in the back of 19 tariff large light alloy wheels with tires of size 255/40.

For the power transmission has itself AMG the services of the speed SHIFT five-course mechanism with switching paddle at the steering wheel and "Direct SELECT circuit" secured. The transmission characteristic can the driver over the driving programs "sport", "Comfort" and "manual" adjusts - besides it can change the pedal characteristic and the feather/spring/absorption attitude of the AMG Sportfahrwerks on basis of the "Active Body control".
Documentation and well-being feeling
In order to document also outward its requirement from luxury and sportyness to, AMG has a new front apron with increased air intakes and integrated fog headlights with chrome rings blocked, Seitenschwellerverkleidungen and V12-Biturbo-Schriftzuege underlines the collateral line, while the strong tail apron with the exhaust final pipes forms a strong conclusion. In the interior AMG long-proven drives. In the central display of the AMG Kombiinstruments permanently the momentary course inclusive switching recommendation are faded in. Beyond that battery voltage and engine oil temperature are indicated. A "Racetimer" is to help to determine correct round time. It stores the fastest time, average and maximum speed as well as the round length. The driver over control keys at the sport steering wheel can call all information up. The scale speedometers to 360 km/h gives December ducks according to AMG data "a reference to the efficiency" - the electronic latch plate puts itself forward nevertheless with 250 things.

The department of well-being feeling and comfort deny Wurzelnuss Zierzteile, leather pads and AMG Sportsitze as well as the analog clock "IWC engineer" in the center console. AMG Einstiegleisten welcome drivers and front seat passengers.

Re: S65 Amg

haha I didnt thought MB cared about sport but now they even use a racetimer just like the new 997

A "Racetimer" is to help to determine correct round time. It stores the fastest time, average and maximum speed as well as the round length.

I wonder if the new S65 will be cheaper or more expensive than old S65. I mean, old S65 isnt what I call a cheap car

Re: S65 Amg

Strangely and erieely this makes me wonder what the AMG V8 model will be like. This is kinda strange to introduce the top of the line S-Class before this early. No official word on the S450 and S63 yet. Hmmmmmm....

I suspect the S450 will debut at the Los Angeles Autoshow on the 4th of Jan.

Monster car, awesome.
I like the looks.
They've putted an "IWC-ingenieur" analog clock in the middle console, very nice.
On the photo's, the car has 20 inch rims, must be an optional.

The only thins that's missing is carbon fibre panels in the interior. Can't wait to see a black S65 demon on the road.

Looks beautiful, except for those front lights.

But, is it only me that thinks that they interior is only OK?

The rear is a killer.

And the performance!?
OMG 0-100 in 4.4 seconds and 612hp.... Ahh... this is where MB stands alone. They are CRAZY.

Now I really wish Audi would make a RS8....

And the 0-100 KPH is a conservative number. Here in the U.S. magazines have gotten the SL65 and CL65 models to do 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds.

dont forget 100km/h isnt exact like 60mph.

This are Sportautos times for SL65, SLR and CL65. Unfortuanly they havent tested S65.

CL65
0 - 100 km/h 4,8 s
0 - 200 km/h 13,8 s

SL65
0 - 100 km/h 4,3 s
0 - 200 km/h 13,1 s

SLR
0 - 100 km/h 3,9 s
0 - 200 km/h 11,1 s

Somehow US carmags get better times than European carmags probably because they meassure it differently. I read somewhere that an american carmag drove 545i, 0-60mph in 5.2 sec

Re: S65 Amg

Must be more difference than I thought. Isn't 100 kph equal to like 62 mph? All the U.S. magazines get better times for those acceleration runs you've listed, but for 0-60 mph, not 100 kph so that could be the difference maker right there.

yeah its something like 62 mph. Im alwyas amazed by american carmags and their acceleration numbers. they seem to always get better times than the Europeans. I want to know their recipe.

They all use the brake-torque method. Foot on brake, rev engine to optimal power making speed and then lift-off. Car and Driver has this down to a science.

Nice info. I didn't know that, well all magazines have their ways of testing cars. That's why some magazines get really crazy numbers while others don't.

Re: S65 Amg

So what do you guys think, is it going to be more expensive than old S65 or are they keeping the price?

Re: S65 Amg

I'd say it will be a little bit more expensive just like the regular W221 models are compared to the W220 models.

That's an interesting question. They will probably keep the price down and it will likely cost 150k. I really hope that it's not much more expensive that that otherwise we won't spot it on the roads.

At least not in Sweden. I think I can count all 65 cars on my 10 fingers that exist in Sweden I have never even met a 65 on the swedish roads. I have seen one Enzo, two SLR and and one CGT but never a 65 AMG. Its a shame
