| What was your first car? Now, this is a sensitive topic, talking about your first love like this, but if it have not been done already, let's try. My first car was a 1987 Volkswagen Polo CL Coupe. It had 140,000 kms on the clock and wore the rear tires harder than the fronts. Odd. It was 4-speed and had no comfort equipment, what so ever. It took about 10L/100 km. I think someone died in it at some point, because it smelled a bit funny when it was extra hot in the summer sometimes. This is not the actual car, but it looked exactly like this: I had it for two years and drove it about 30,000 kms.

| I got my father's 1990 Renault Clio. It was 1.4 with 78hp. I don't remember how many kms it had on the clock when I got it, but today it was almost 300.000kms. Yup, I still have it and still enjoy it. It's trouble free, despite being an ugly 20yo french car ![]() Pic taken last year. Right now, the left turn light is broken, the plastic line from the drivers door is missing, and someone decided to destroy my car, thus the right front and rear fenders and both right doors are kinda "ruined" but still I haven't fixed anything. Actually I'm ashamed to post a pic of it in its current state

| not my actual car, i don't think i ever took a picture of it before selling it it was a 1995 mazda 323f, a hand me down from my mother, had a love hate relationship with the car, i loved it, because i absolutely didn't care about it, so i battered it, drove it like an idiot, more often than not parked it in the most unholy manner, and didn't care about it. i hated it because i wanted something newer, more comfortable, and more importantly less of a headache. i returned it to the dealer after several years driving who took for a decent price (given it's state) and got a brand new mazda 3 in its stead ![]() |

| 1987 MB 190E 2.3 got it Sept. 98 with 112,500 miles on it. Last week after owning it for 11 years and putting on 91K miles it let me down for the first time ![]() Original atlernator finally went. Just put a new one in, will check everything over tomorrow after I replace all the fuses and change the coolant.

| A 1987 Nissan Maxima: Mine was burgundy. The car was my moms bought new in August of 1986, by the time it was given to me in 1993 it had a few rust spots as all Nissans did back during those days. By the time I traded it (insert laughter) in 1995 it had no A/C, a gas leak (you could see it dripping whenever it was parked), large rust spots, and the transmission had started slipping. It had actually become quite dangerous to drive in the last month or so that I had it. The gas leak had been fixed twice and it would always come back. It actually started a small under-hood fire one time that I would just put out by fanning it. Nothing would keep the car from starting, not the coldest Chicago winters or anything, but it was really dangerous when the trans would slip when trying to accelerate from a stop light. M

| 1989 Mitsubishi Galant Super Saloon 1.6 (79-hp) ![]() A few years later, another Mitsubishi Galant, a 1992 GTI 2.0 DOHC 16V - great car. I still miss it to this day. I think the design of the 5th generation Galant has aged really well. ![]()

| I only bought my first car this year. ![]() 2001 Saab 9-3 2.0t with 93,000 km on the clock at the time of purchase, full service history, one careful owner and all that. Not to mention it was dirt cheap. Not the best-handling car around but a quiet and comfortable cruiser with decent performance.

In its day the GTI was something of a sleeper with its 145-horsepower. It was actually the non-turbo version of the infamous Galant VR4. Great car.
