I'm sure we all enjoy the sun and what better way to enjoy it then in a Convertible. I want you all to think of which car you would like to have for the upcoming summer months.

Please give detail reason on your pick and what is it about the car that peaks you interest.

Design? -
History? -
Power? -
Interior? -
Exterior? -

Please answer each one(if possibe)!

Please enjoy and remember to give detail answers. Thank you.

The SL is the only car of this bunch that I really like. I suppose it's mainly the design, but the driving experience is supposedly very good also. I'm not a fan of 911 convertibles, and the rest of the cars are not to my taste.

My choice is not surprising at all, I'll go for 6-series  ...!

Design?
History?
Power?
Interior?
Exterior?

One answer, best fanatic combo :D ...!

BMW 6 – This car is ver exacting and looks very laid back and relaxing. It’s about the most calming looking of all the BMWs. It’s very sleek and sexy, but it lacks to look of my “Highest of High” standards of excellency.

The Jaguar XK – I love the interior and exterior. It is absolutely sexy. The design is based on Aston Martin, but it still shows Jaguar’s interest in improving. I really wouldn’t mind purchasing one. Only thing is the brand is getting ready to be so. It lead me to put this in the “ify” section

The Mercedes-Benz SL – First of all it’s a Mercedes. Secondly, I have driven this car and it is nearly perfect (drove the 302hp model). I can only imagine the drive of the SL550 – SL65. The only thing hurting it is the fact that it could be changed completely in the next 2 years.

Lexus SC – I hate this car. I looks like crap warmed up. I really didn’t want to include it in the poll, but that would be unfair. I couldn’t even find a good photo of it. Well I guess it is dependable and that should count for something. NOT!

Cadillac XLR – Nice job, but I’m not interested at all. It is not really that sexy. It almost has a stupid look on it’s face. The design looks good on the Escalade, but not a sports car.

Porsche 911 – Don’t really care for the design, but in terms of engineering WOW. But, I need more then that. I need more luxury and for some reason it just says OLD man that wants to be young.

Winner:

Why: It’s new, sexy and a cool look for summer.

Design? - Sleek and Sexy
History? - Jaguar is know for it's luxury history
Power? - The power is just enough to enjoy highway driving
Interior? - Very classy looking
Exterior? - Curves are well placed

Runner Up:

I'd have to go with the Porsche. To be honest they all look dated to me, Porsche is the only company that can pull it off year after year.;)

My 1st choice: Mercedes-Benz SL

Thankfully, the SL still remains an extremely desirable package in my eyes. Not only does it boasts a great design, but it's got an interior which I believe has aged gracefully. As an overall package, I think it's perfect.

SL55 please!

My 2nd choice: Porsche 997 Carrera Cabriolet

Without a doubt the 911 cabriolet is a great car, but I happen to prefer the coupe (which is why it lost out to the SL)

Other Vehicles:

BMW M6: I feel that the drop-top conversion doesn't compliment the design very well.

Jaguar XK: Looks alright, but other than that.. Oh alright.. I can't stand Jaguar's. :D

Cadillac XLR: If I wanted something designed with a ruler, I'd buy a box.

Lexus SC: Even this Lexus enthusiast happens to think the SC boasts the award for worst design ever. :eusa_doh:

1. SL.. well what can i say.. probably one of the best designed cars in our lifetime

2.911.. i dont really like the cab version..but its still looks alot better than the others

3 and 4-- 6er and Jag.. they are about the same to me..the jag looks better..but the BMW is better.. compromised products imo

caddy and lexus dead last.. cause they suck.. they really do:D

You think the Jaguar looks dated already? It is the newest out of the bunch.

I honestly do. Every time I see it all I can think is that somethings missing. It's a extremely clean design, maybe a little to clean if you can understand what I'm trying to say. With that said I'd take it over the rest of the field minus the Porsche. I'm impressed with the interior of the XK, I was starting to think Jaguar would never change it up.:)

SL for me.

Design? Timeless, the car is pretty old now and it still looks as fresh as ever.

History? Probably the best of the bunch up there, right up from the 300SL in the 1950s.

Power? A supercharged V8 does enough work in the car for all the driving you want.

Interior? Highly-specc, it is great and the laid-back feel is what convertible cruising is all about.

Ah....just my kind of topic!

Well everyone here knows which car does it for me in this group - the SL. It simply owns this segment and it does so while being one of the elder members of the group. The SL has the design, heritage, and engine options all over these other cars. Some of the newer model do match it in the pretty contest, but just barely. For me they rank:

1. SL55 AMG with the 030 pack
2. M6
3. 911 Carrera 4S Cabrio
4. XKR
5. XLR-V
6. SC430.

The Lexus SC430 is in way over its head. It is as you Euro guys say, the ultimate pensioner's car. It is nothing to look at or drive, but it has the usual Lexus qualities and that is why it still sells pretty good here.

The XLR is just plain wierd looking in pics, and barely comes together in real life. It is also cheaply constructed, plastic inside and out and an interior only General Motors could thing is worth the price they're asking for it.

The XKR is simply gorgeous and once it gets that 500hp V8 it will be the best alternative to the German iron we've yet seen from Jaguar.

The 911 Cabrio is traditional favorite. I really love the widebody 4S model with the top down. Like a women with big, but perfectly shaped hips.

Ah..the runner up to the SL....the M6 Cabrio. Absolutley love this car. Give me one in that metallic black with the brown leather, stunning.

Quite an interesting topic. Summer fanboy wars :D

Anyway, my choise would be the 6er. No question. Reasons:
Desing: It's just my favourite of the banch. The reason is quite objective but design is a matter of personal taste.

History: The 6er has a well-known history that we all know about.

Power: The car is a cabrio, which means that it is more to just have some fun and go out is style rather than having driving thrillements. Of course the 6er has enough power to go out in style and to give you a huge smile when you press the gas pedal!

Interior/Exterior: Again, as a matter of personal taste, the combination of lines on the 6er cab. is fabulous!

With the right colors the M6 Cabrio can be damn sexy. If it wasnt for the M6 I would go with a Jaguar or a SL.

630i-650i < SL and XKR
M6 > SL and XKR

I would never buy a Porsche Convertible. Porsche with a roof over a Convertible.

Yeah that is my M6 Cabrio right there. They had one just like it at the Detroit show this past January, stunning. There is a member here that hates this color combo, I expect him to comment shortly...lol!

Here i am and yes, i hate it! :D Mainly due to that leather color...

Blue 6er cab with white interior (see above) is what i'd take, but since i'm not a fan of cabrios i won't vote. Plus, i have to admit, the SL is giving me hard time, i just love it!

:t-cheers:

I voted for the SL!! I love this car and if I had the money, I would definitely buy one. SL 550 or SL 55 AMG - in silver and red leather seats, like this one:

Choice:SL
Next Choice: 6er

Interior
1st: SL
2nd: Jag

Exterior
1st: SL
2nd 6er
3rd: Jag

Somehow, 911/Cadillac/Lexus designs dont appeal to me. Esp the lexus. dated design.
Cadillac is just too angular

cant really comment on power/drive. too young for that :eusa_doh:
