I should add that this is our new family car. My dad sold the E320 and bought this E350 CGI second hand with 8,500 km on the odometer. CGI means 'direct injection' so this is the 292-hp variant of the 272-hp 3.5 V6 (268-hp in the US). I've not done a kickdown yet on the car but it certainly feels more lively than our ex-E320 and the 272-hp 3.5 V6 MBs I've tried.

It's virtually fully loaded and has some nice extras. The leather is real but I hate it since it's so slippery. I preferred the cloth-MB-Tex layout of our ex-E320.

Amazing! Saw this on FB, also saw the other saucy phoot;)

Congratz on the new car anyway, will this be your new daily? :D

Thanks. It's going to be the daily driver of my parents. I'm using the BMW 118i which makes a better city car. :)

The rims currently on the car are its winter rims and tires. These are the standard summer rims below. Photo is from the test drive a few weeks ago.

Some more random shots from the test drive. :)

A detailed report and review (with more photos) will follow. I just have not properly driven it yet. The last time I drove it I was more interested in getting good photos than testing the car! :D

Looks amazing!

You should love the W212. Let us know impressions VS the W211. :t-cheers:

I will. :t-cheers:

A detailed review and W211 vs W212 impressions will follow. I miss the E320 but the E350 CGI is a whole different world!

Thanks! :t-cheers:

I have only driven the car twice as of now. It's with my dad all the time and I'm driving the BMW 118i at the moment. Plus, I'm so busy with school etc. that I hardly have time to drive anything.

A detailed review of the car will come up in the winter - I promise. With new photos! :)

mate, when is the write-up and more pics coming up? i fell in love with the new A6 and i kinda like the new 5 too. however, after seeing your pics, i must say the E is a very very elegant car.

Hey,

Give me a few weeks for a proper review. I've been so busy over the last few weeks that I've not had time to pursue my interests. I hope to drive it again in three weeks, when I have vacation. :)

I did drive the car again a month ago from Munich to Mühldorf, which is a 80 km trip, so I did get to experience it again on the Autobahn and on country roads.

On the Autobahn the W212 is very stable, es expected from a Mercedes. I had the car up to 160 km/h only since my family was on board. Wind noises and engine noise are very low at this speed. Hardly audible. The engine, despite being the "old" 3.5-l V6 with direct injection, is still pretty smooth and the power delivery is amazing. The car might "only have" 292-horsepower, but it sure accelerates and feels much quicker. I can only imagine that the brand new Mercedes 3.5-l V6 with 306-horsepower is going to be something amazing.

The AMG package and suspension give the car a more sporty feel, but the comfort doesn't suffer. The steering response is really tight and the response is quick (better than the BMW 118i I am currently driving). I didn't drive the car in a sporty fashion around tight bends since I had my family with me, but the steering feel and the sturdy (yet comfortable) suspension hint at the sporty nature that the AMG package have breathed into this car.

Interior space is generous, though at first the car feels a little more cramped compared to the previous W211. Drive the car for some time and this feeling goes away, as the W212 is a very spacious car inside.

That's about all I can tell you for now, but I do look forward to photographing the car again and of course driving it again! :t-cheers:
