Great engine but it is not that fast. It is almost as fast as a E350 CGI W211 (292PS) and 530i E60 (272PS) at higher speeds:

530i E350CGI Panamera PDK
0-100km/h 6.8s 6.8s 6.4s
0-160km/h 16.0s 15.6s 15.5s
0-200km/h 26.4s 26.0s 26.6s

I hope so because AMS results are often slower than others.
There's nothing wrong with AMS-numbers. Their testing methode is the same as Sport Auto' or AutoBild's. I saw many examples when they came up with impressive numbers.
@ Panamera PDK: it has got Launch Control with automatic upshifting. Its performance's only depending on the weather-/track conditions. :usa7uh:

The sprint till 100 km/h in 6,4s is not too bad but it isn't fantastic either. I am not a big fan of (relatively) small engines in so heavy cars. It just kills the sporty spirit.
Too bad AMS does not give the curb weight in their short tests.

I think we don't have to wait so long for a proper comparison with its rivals. :usa7uh:

I know that DeDe, but i almost always saw better results in Autobild than AMS and Sport Auto no matter what weather-/track conditions in the tests.

Yes, that's true but Porsche wants to have a car that competes in this class with cars such as 535i and E350/CLS350 CGI because that brings more profit for them.

I really don't know. I collect AMS and Sport Auto since 2003 and I saw a lot of examples when AMS testresults were better with the same car. Sometimes much better. Unlike many other members here, I don't see any problems with AMS' testing or results. Yes, most of Sport Auto's testers are official racing drivers. That's an advantage. But that's all...

I agree, i meant Autobild sportscars only.

I didn't know that the E350 is that fast.:usa7uh:

If you collect AMS since 2003, then you should have AMS test of M5 E60. Could you please find it and post it in this forum?
ree already posted the comparison between BMW M5 and Mercedes CLS55 AMG in his "AMS Test Archive" thread. They never tested the M5 in an "Einzeltest", only in comparisons.

Though this car copes perfectly well with this engine it's not the right entry level engine it should have. The 3.0d would make for a more appealing cheaper model, after all if you can't afford a proper v8 then at least get some return at the pump instead.
