Panamera [Spy Shots] Porsche Panamera Thread III (Spy pics & info)

The Porsche Panamera is a mid to full-sized luxury car (E-segment or F-segment for LWB in Europe) manufactured and marketed by Porsche. The Panamera name, as with the Carrera name, is derived from the Carrera Panamericana race.

-The car devoted to driving experience above everything else.
-Luxury and Sport are no longer mutually exclusive.

So thats the front of it huh? Looks just like a 911, that is promising. Its that rear we gotta see.

Ok, so wait a min...does this mean we're about to see this car at Paris or is it still next year sometime?

The front doesn't look bad…rims are to small…but I already know, that I will hate the rear!! So, I can't wait to see the Aston Martin rival… :D

Paris is too early. Porsche has just launched one of the 5 Panamera magazine issues and will release each of them as we approach the unveiling. Like I've stated in the other thread the car is practically finished and is in FEP stage right now, the presentation will have taken place by the end of the year.

Porsche has done something very unexpected. Instead of marketing the car as a performance sedan or four door coupe, they are marketing it as a four door sports car. A very bold move but if I know Porsche right they never do false marketing, a Porsch executive has even said that performance is close to the 911. BMW should be very worried as the Panamera will probably end the M5's 20 year reign as the four door champ.

Panamera will probably end the M5's 20 year reign as the four door champ.

It all depends on price. The RS6 is also competitior to the M5 but cost alot more. Not everyone can afford or willing to pay extra to get a RS6 over a M5. Same case with the Panamera.
And without knowing the specs for the Panamera I think the M5 will offer more space and being more practical and that combined with a good price I dont see the Panamera to end the M5.

And regarding driving dynamics, the advantage for the Panamera is the handling due of being very low. Lower center of gravity than a M5, probably as low as M6?

Contrary to most cars on the market Porsche has decided to mount the brake calipers on the front section of the disc. Nissan did the same with the GT-R

imitation or flattery?

Does anybody else feel this media approach including the editing and music is close to the BMW Concept of marketing?

If only the sketch was a realistic interpretation of what is coming but comparing it to the spy shots including the most recent that roofline is more bloated hatch than low slung coupe as revealed in this sketch.
(And yes I see the Porsche curved window line through the squared off disguise ) That roof is still there.

I have no doubt of course that it will be the best performance luxury sedan in the segment. The evidence there is on the development programme (How long have we seen photos since of mules and prototypes?) Surpassing the M5 and yes the RS6 but that's evolution for you of course Mercedes are first up to bat and how they do will define the benchmarks for the segment Just as it is for now the M5 that determines the rules.

Honestly, I'm numb and indifferent to the new picture. We have seen so many scoops that we all know what the car is gonna look like. The only thing left in our imagination is whether this thing is really gonna be as ugly as some of us fear it would..................................
