Wish me luck guys... 2 more weeks to my driving test!

Mr. M

I've been waiting for this moment for almost a year now. It takes almost 9 months to get a license here in Singapore. :t-banghea But thankfully my theory tests passed without any hiccups. Now it's the big test on the circuit and on the real road. Once I'm done with this, I'm officially a licensed driver. :eusa_danc

I need all the luck I can get. :t-cheers:

Good luck mate, I have always assumed you have your licence already. It sounds pretty tough to get the driving licence over in Singapore, you have to drive on the circuit as well as on the road? What are the testing criteria?

Good luck mate! I know you'll do it great!

btw, I passed my theory exams also, I'm starting to practice driving in Aug/Sept and I'll have a driving license in October!:)

wow, its really that difficult to get a drivers license? 9 months!?

After all that army training, this should be an absolute cake walk for you :D

Best of luck!

GOOD LUCK JAMES:usa7uh:

Think of the day you can drive the MQP downtown pimpin:cool:

Yes, half of the test is in a circuit. It'll involve some basic driving and obeying traffic rules. Most people fail here because of the parking involved. Three types - parallel, directional change and 90 degree parking. The road tests are to see how confident you are in the real world. How to change lane, how to handle traffic, how to deal with situations etc... A pass is committing less than 20 demerit points worth of mistakes. A simple thing like not giving way at a pedestrian crossing, immediate failure. Car dies halfway, 4 points. Car slips on a slope, 4 points, You get my drift...

It's more of the wait rather than the difficulty. The government purposely makes it tedious for us to pass because there are way too many cars on the road.

Hmm, in army I get trained to ride a bike, not drive a car. :D

GOOD LUCK JAMES:usa7uh:

Yes I still do have the MX-5, will post a comprehensive review and picture post once I get at least a few hundred miles in it! :t-cheers:

Just passed my test narrowly with the help of a very lenient tester as well as my nerves getting its act together halfway through the test. First thing, vertical parking, hit the kerb and I felt like I've lost it already. Then made more stupid mistakes, like crossing stop line, beating blinking green arrow, failure to check blind spot, etc. I thought it was over.

Then back to the driving centre he said "your driving isn't that bad... I'll pass you." :D

Drove the MX-5 for about a 100km today, just love the drive man.

Congrats mate :usa7uh: So are you on your full licence or you are on your P-plates if there is something like that in Singapore.

I guess you are lucky to pass, for us if you hit the kerb, it is an automatic fail no matter what, same with crossing the stop line.

I'll have to put on P plates, but it doesn't matter to me, because you'll still have the full privileges of a normal license. After one year I can remove my P plates.

Yeah I count myself really lucky. Was super nervous so I guess my tester could understand why I underperformed. Anyway, gonna test drive the Type-R, GTI and Cooper S soon. You can roughly guess what cars I'm considering next. :D

I know you were dreaming about a Type-R, but I think you should wait for the VW Scirocco, it suits your style better than the 3 cars you have listed.
