This looks more like an 1er Touring.

The Compactive Tourer is more a compact MPV.

YIKES!!! A freaking B class!!

Needless to say, horrible. Extremely horrible. Why can't they use Mini for this nonsense?

Who would have said huh? When we all were thinking it was MB the one that should copy the BMW strategy on the compact segment, BMW goes the MB way with this kind of crap.

This is the GT. The one you are thinking about is the F.A.S.T. which is still being finalized.

MB's selling tons of B-class in Europe!

Yes , and by 2015 the market for these cars will grow by 65% For Premium manufacturers this is going to be a lucrative segment.

Toyota is selling tons of Corolla everywhere! BMW should copy that too.

Too bad that what happens when companies become Marketing driven and not engineering driven :(

I said it before and will say it again, the damage will be difficult to control once the image is shattered, it might be financially successful, but souless products.

Seriously? I thought it had been a complete fail.

In Germany alone MB sold 37,500 units of B-class in 2010. And the Mk1 is phasing out. The Mk2 is coming since Mk1 was a success - otherwise the model would be killed, don't you think.

My sources have told me FAST (Family Activity Sports Tourer) = internal name for Compactive Tourer (registered trademark) = BMW minivan model.

I did not expect this
but I understand it.

There is no denying that BMW's lineup of cars has been small in comparison to VAG's overzealous empire. Modular platforms and 3 cylinder engines are all part of BMW's strategy to rapidly expand while pushing costs down. Mercedes are releasing a hatchback and thus BMW have to retaliate by developing a mini MPV.

Yes the new B-Klasse will be launched in July .

FAST is an SAV/MPV looks like an X model that is recognised because it has a MINI-esque Club door because it shares it's platform with the MINI Paceman Sport Activity Coupe. CST aka GT is the MPV/Touring model.

So the new FWD family won't be a separate line but variants based on the 1er ?

COMPACTIVE!!!! What the? Does that word even exist? Or is it BMW marketing at its finest (yet again...).

Will this be a direct competitor to the B? The render posted looks more in line with an A3 sportback, but the mule looks a bit higher. If its like the render then its a 4 door HATCHBACK. Not a compactive tourer our whatever else they bloody dream up.

Hey guys i hope i dont get attacked by some but let me be clear here there is no way i can associate BMW with a car like this really it shocks mr for BMW to make such a B class type car..When i think off BMW i think off cars and sedams ans sporty machines..Cars not vans no ways did i expect this from BMW its like they obbsessed lets make everything what Merc and Audi make no wasy does a car like this relate in my view to BMW...

:D Yes, it's a "product" of "great minds" from BMW Marketing dept.
They even registered the word "compactive" as a trademark, as well as "Compactive Tourer". :usa7uh:

It's a B-class minivan type of car, not a 4dr hatch or sporty wagon.

Btw, there is a huge market for minivans in Europe, and still growing. And there is only MB B-class that offers premium in this segment. So, BMW think it's a great opportunity to offer customers another premium choice. Don't wonder when Audi follows - VW already have a platform (VW Golf Plus, Seat Altea, Skoda will also be included this time). Perhaps the new A2? :usa7uh:

Compactive... ohh... it's quite cute, I just hope that term never ever gets out to the public :D

Anyho, is this another case of Car Guys vs Bean Counters?
