Audi S4 B8 3.0T Saloon

So the car finally has 1000km (625miles) on the clock and today being a public holiday in the UK I took the car out for it's first thrashing.

So with the ESP button pressed for the first time and the ADS set to dynamic I headed out. 2 minutes later I did my first powerslide in an Audi.:t-woohoo:. It was surprisingly simple to catch the slide and bring the car back into a straight line. After about half an hour of removing rubber from the Bridgestone RE050As, I decided to do a few straight line acceleration runs. Unlike the sideways stuff, for which a relative amateur like myself definitely needs two hands, I could (badly!) video the straight line stuff.

I have posted these videos below. One of the acceleration runs surprised me and showed 0-62mph at 4.2 secs (according to my video editing software timer and the car's speedo, you can read my comments on Youtube).

I am not as easy to please as I used to be. I am already getting bored with the 333ps and 440Nm. The car could do with an ECU remap and sportier sounding exhaust...

One lucky son of a gun you are. Congrats! The car is absolutely gorgeous and dare I say the best looking of all the other options. What tuner companies might you be looking at for a reflash of the ECU?
 
I totally missed this thread. Amazing car and it would be my choice over the rivals. Excellent choice or "ACE" ACE .
 
That is one awesome car, Have you read this months Evo? They give it the big thumbs up over the 335i and Evo-X FQ-330 :)

No, I hadn't seen the EVO article. Just went out and bought the mag (£4.40, who are they kidding!). Really surprised that EVO magazine chose an Audi over a BMW and Evo. I am still waiting for a review that gives a negative review of the S4 (or rates it behind the 335i).

Cool! I say go with the MTM package. They seem like a fairy reputable firm, and a 100hp upgrade and a probably equally nice gain in torque doesn't seem like a bad direction to go in, at all.:t-cheers:

trouble with mtm is that that they are super expensive. But then again ACE does drive the latest S4 and has a porsche!

Yeah it is a bit on the pricey side and very BMW and Jap bias but it is a beautifully put together mag with some nice photography in it. I found the article tended to focus on the other two far more so i thought it was bias business as usual but when i read the conclusion i nearly fell of me chair! I cant wait to see what happens if an RS4 is produced:)
 
How's the exhaust note? Anything worth to write home about?

I am rather disappointed with the S4's sound; a exhaust mod is really in order.

The exhaust note is definitely not anything to write home about, especially compared to previous 4.2 V8 S4s. The V6T gives a weight and fuel economy advantage over the V8 but loses the V8 sound. There are some videos of the exhaust note on Youtube. I haven't heard any modded exhaust notes yet, they will probably be a lot sportier but I doubt that they will be spectacular given that this is only a 3.0 V6 that revs to just over 7000rpm.

ACE, as an ex-B6 S4 with Milltek cat-back owner I agree with your comments here about the B8. I've been out in Milltek's new Avant with a full system including cats and I was quite impressed with the noise that car made compared to the standard system. Worth looking into if you decide to upgrade IMO.

Nice colour choice by the way (mine was silver too). :usa7uh:
