My R53 MINI One

jack

Kraftkurve King
i own him now since early 2006
its my first car, and i'm still in love with him(its a friendship betweens boys - nothing more nothing less :D)
he is a R53 with 90HP - i thought about cracking the engine to 120HP, but thats alittle bit too expensive for the moment
he had some pre owners - building year is 2002

he already got in droubles with some vandalism - some scares and stolen lamps
he also lost his A pillar at 160km/h (of couse i bought him a new one :D )
but no major accidients, i'm just alittle worried about the gearbox (its know that the prefacelift has some major issues there)

i got him pretty naked, so the lamps and the black/white stripes where my welcome present to him

2 weeks ago i upgraded the interieur abit, with carbon jcw units - got it alot cheaper then the list price (the jcw gearshifter was added 6months ago)

this summer i want to paint the interieur doorhandles, because the paint is fading

1. How did you manage to lose an A pilla???

2. I know how vandalism feels... I had the fog lights of my Clio, as well as the hubcaps, stolen, numerous times... :D

:t-cheers:

where did you take the photos? nice environment.
first pic was taken on my holiday to the island Rab(at the ferry), which is part of croatia (in 2006)
second pic was taken on the boarder between croatia and slovenia (in 2006)

sadly i don't have pics of my skiing holiday to salzburg - we were 4 snowboarders, with one huge bag(for 3 days) each > this was a hell of a ride, i think it made my mini 3 cm lower :eusa_danc
(boarding equipment was carried by a vw T3 :D)

@BMW Power
yeah, i enjoy every moment - even if its "just" a 90HP mini, its way better then my fathers golf V with 4motion and 140HP (not the acceleration, but handling - i don't want to miss this direct steering and its sound)

The Carbon accents in the interior look amazing! I love mini's and Im so glad you are enjoying yours even after some of the shortcomings.

btw, is the inteior build quality poor? I find it strange that the door handles are fading colour.

interieur build quality
difficult chapter
the design itself makes it look strong and save (and more major then any other car of its size) - its a mix between retro and race car
the materials have a little lower quality then a vw polo - but the problem (in my opinion) is the way it was build together - during driving you sometimes have noises from the dashboard ... but this makes it special(call me crazy)
the addition of the carbon elements add alot to its look - this dismissed the cheap looking silver panels that where there before

door handle color
it pealed already when i got it(don't know what the owner did to him), but i didn't had anytime to fix it

update: added 2 pics

Today, I had a facelifted Mini Cooper D as a rental. 5,9 litres / 100 kilometers. The build quality of the current model is much better than the pre-facelifted one (drove a pre-FL Cooper S from time to time). But ... nevermind ... your Mini is still something to luv! Great car, Jack!

BTW - I'll post a nice Clubman in the 'Spotted today' - thread ;).

It's a good looking thing.

I suppose the pictures are taken for the scenery? The car is barely visible in them because of the lightning.

jap - the pics where only taken because of the lightning(i had to catch, the warm colors reflecting on the carbody) - but i'm planning to make new ones, as soon as i get my cam back...

i also like the r56 - its only the interieur design, which could have been done better - i'm missing the sportiness ... but i have heard that the facelift is going to get a new interieur(not only a material update)

Nice car - really like the carbon interior!! Adds a lot to it…looks stylish!! And those additional lamps should be on every Cooper!!

it was "only" the cover of the A pillar - its a known problem of prefacelifted minis ... but it was still a huge shock, i'm just glade that it didn't happen in a city area

[edit] he is not very minimalistic - 10.2L per 100km - pretty thirsty

I thought of the plastic cover, but sounds insane to be off!

BTW, 10.2l/100km?
and that with 90HP?
You must drive it really hard!

at 160km/h it sounded as if the windshield broke apart
i told my dealer that it was insane, that i should pay for that shit - his answer "well, at a certain age everything can happen" after this commentar i paid the bill and changed the dealer :t-crazy2: - not even bmw wanted to pay for it(i was out of the warranty)

10.2L - also occure when i drive the normal way

some pics from today
sadly not as sunny(it also rained several minutes ago) as i expected it...

Haha! I knew it the moment i saw the pics... I was there 3 years ago...:usa7uh:

quite funny, i showed that photo on a mini forum (several months ago) and there was also someone who imediatly noticed the island
its really an awesome place (if you have a boat)

True. Planning to visit it again, Jack? I'll be near Rab from 01.-25.08. this year... Maybe we can meet there?:D

:t-cheers:

bad timing
i have visited rab since the last 10 years(also with my parents) during august
but since 2006 i'm taking alittle brake - this year was prag and mallorca
