We have a lot of E class owners or those who has an E clas in their family garage here in GCF, so lets have a E-class owners photo thread, i will start things off.

We were cleaing the garage yesterday, so the cars are parked on the street. The weather was nice, so i took a few photos of the car.

I think the wheels look better with a coat of brake dust, but still can someone donate a set of 17 or 18 inch AMG or Brabus rims to me, i will pay for the postage :)

Re: E-class owners photo thread

Nice E-class. You've kept it in good condition. How reliable has it been?

Thanks mate. The E class doesn't really get parked on the street, and we don't drive it daily. It is more a school run car for my mum to drive my little bro, so he can sleep inside. So far it has been very reliable, besides when the car went into limp home mode once, but we restarted it and it went away. That happened about 2 months weeks after we got the car.

Re: E-class owners photo thread

Great idea, Monster. You have a very nice E-Class Elegance. I can't quite make out the rear though. Is it an E320 or an E350?

Here are some pictures of my family's 2002 E320 Avantgarde. We got it on July 2, 2002 and it's been a magnificent experience so far. The car has first and foremost been very reliable and despite many people criticizing the 224-hp V6, it's far from underpowered. Drive it on the Autobahn, hammer it and you'll see what I mean. ;) :t-cheers:

We've also used it for long journeys and it really is one of the major strengths of the E-Class. You just feel so relaxed and safe in this thing at higher speeds and the comfort is good. Our Avantgarde is a sporty version so the suspension is a bit stiffer than in the Classic or Elegance models, but it is still a comfortable car. Handling is ok to. :t-cheers:

Thanks mate. Initially we were going to order a E240, because my dad doesn't want a fast car, he is a slow driver, and he doesn't like speed. We test drove that, and i wasn't impressed with the loud engine noise, because we have to rev it hard to get the car moving, so we settled for a E320 Elegence because mum doesn't like the black maple wood trim in the Avant- Guard (I want those LED tailights though). So we ordered the E320 way back in September 2004, but we specfically said to the dealer our the car should be built in January 2005 or later. The dealer rang us on December 2004, telling us our order has been upgraded to a E350 because Mercedes were going to stop making the E320 in 2005. I was happy, my mum was happy cause she drives fast, but my dad wasn't.

So we got the E350 Elegence on April 20th 2005, it is a Feb built car.

We only drive the E class on medium to long distance trips, just to protect the battary.Totally agree with your points on the E-class's high speed cruising ability. The car is very comfortable at any speed, and you feel very very relaxed. THe 3.5 V6 is very very smooth and silent, it is even quiter and smoother than the lexus/toyota V6(I test drove a IS250 before), tell that to the lexus fanboys in Autolies :). Handling is surprisingly ok, sometimes when the car arrives at a corner at great speed, i thought it couldn't make it, but it did with no problems at all, although the body rolls a bit too much.

Thanks for the info. :t-cheers:

The 3.5 V6 is a gem. Smooth, responsive and powerful. Was able to sample it in the ML350, SLK350 and CLS350 as well as a short E350 T-Modell drive and it's a great engine. Definitely an improvement over our 3.2-l V6, which was an old engine already.

I was able to drive some Elegance models while working at a Mercedes dealer and they're noticebly softer than the Avantgarde models meaning they're more comfortable but don't handle like the Avantgarde model. Our E320 Avantgarde handles ok in corners. Body roll is still high, but not as much as on the Elegance models as far as I could tell.

The funny thing is that my dad thinks that this E-Class is "TOO MUCH" for us and he's seriously considering getting a used Mercedes B200 CDI Autotronic! :eek2:

Hey, I like the B-Class too, but it handles very poorly compared to the A-Class and it will be too small for a family of four like us with their luggage. Sometimes, our E320's is filled to the max. - and now my dad wants a B-Class? :t-banghea

I'd rather have a CLS320 CDI or an E320 CDI, especially a T-Modell (estate).

yeah i love the 3.5 L V6, it is extremely economical as well. I can get down to 8.4L/100km on highway driving, and around 13 to 14L/100km driving in the city. My subaru uses 16.2L/100km in city driving, and 14L/100km for highway driving. It has a 3.0L flat 6, 180kw.

We did try an Avantgarde version, the ride was noticeably bumpier than the Elegence, and we thought this will be the comfort car in the family, so we didn't really want the lowered and sporty suspension.

You have to try hard to convience your dad not to get a B class. a CLS will do very nicely, how about the new C-class wagon? We came close to replace the E with the new ML350 a few weeks back cause mum didn't like the SBC that much, but i managed to change her mind.

With our E320, we regularly average about 8.2 liters / 100 km, which isn't bad at all considering we do drive it in a sporty fashion too. But I always drive with "looking ahead". That means, if I round a corner and see that the traffic light is red, I don't floor the car and do a screeching halt at the light like some people do.

Last week, I was driving down from Frankfurt and usually stayed around 180-200 km/h and the car used 9.8 liters of gasoline for 100 km according to the board computer. Not bad at all. :eek2:

I do like the B-Class, but it is the wrong car for our family. My dad is so obsessed with fuel economy though and the next car will for sure be a diesel. He does like the ML320 CDI but it's an SUV and no matter how economical the diesel engine is, it will still use more fuel than a passenger sedan with the same engine. He likes the CLS, but it is not a practical family car, I agree with him on that.

Not sure how he feels about the new C-Class. That car will still be smaller than an E-Class and we're quite big. My dad is 6'2", I am 6'4" and my sister is 6'0". :eek2: :eusa_danc

Tell your dad it is that time again to buy himself a new toy. How long has he had the SL for? you guys are bloody tall, your family need a long wheelbase S class.

An S-Class would be great. :D

He's had the SL since the early 1990s. Bought it from his bestfriend for a friendship price. Great car. Feels like a tank and handles like one too. :D

That's impossible... You guys have an SL500. :D

BTW, monster, nice car dude. Must be nice with all that power... We get a V6 in the Phaeton, imagine how draggy that is! :eusa_doh:

:D

Yep, but that car is horrible for long journeys because we're so big and the interior cabin space is small for giants like us. We only use the SL to drive from Mühldorf to Munich or Salzburg max. Anything past that and it gets really uncomfortable not because the seats or suspension is bad, but because the cabin is just too small.

BTW, when you get your W124, post the pics here! :D

hahahaha, how powerful is the Pheaton. I guess your dad has the Quattroporte GT when he feels the need for speed

Comon other E class owners out there, i want to see your cars !

Do you think your dad will ever sell his SL?

Ah I see... Do I hear an S-Class bell ringing? :D S320CDI...

Just 240bhp, 320Nm of torque I think... It does 9.9 to a 100km/h. Yes you're right about the Maser. :usa7uh:

LOL :D

I wish. The S320 CDI is a fun car. I was able to drive the old W220 S320 CDI and this thing had traction control problems on semi wet roads! The torque is insane! :eek2:

The problem with the S-Class is parking. It's hard enough finding a suitable parking space with the E320 in some areas, and an S-Class will just make this harder.

I'd love to have an S320 CDI though. Driving that new W221 S-Class is fun. I miss those 30 minutes I had behind the wheel of one!

Thanks for this thread...you all drive lovely E-Classes!!!
To give some variety, here is our E 280 CDI... :D ...not the "best" photos at all.

I really love our E-Class. The engine is great. The 190hp are completely adequate! The car is comfortable, fast and have enough space to "survive" a longer trip.
In my opinion this is also a very rare E-Class, because it has a 6-speed-manual (!) transmission. (My dad didn't want to have an automatic, meanwhile he changes his opinions about that... :D )
The fuel economy is "top"!

I hope you enjoy all the photos.

The E-Class with winter-tyres, also love this type of rims...

...and the summer-tyres again...

"Ihr guter Stern auf allen Straßen" :D (Sorry, I don't really know, how I could translate this)

Your E class looks fantastic, and the 6 speed manual is very rare indeed. i always wanted those Sportspack wheels, Xenon lights and LED tailights. What model year is yours? How quiet, economica and responsive is the engine? And how is the handling, espically with the sports package.

Wonderful ride, Ree.

Love the sports package, and those rims are just to die for.

How's the 6-speed? Let me guess: not very smooth, long and unprecise shifting patterns and a general feeling of vagueness eh? :D
