  | Driven: Morgan Aero 8  There's more to the Morgan Aero 8 than meets the eye. Its retro style is completely in keeping with the marque's heritage: however, by adopting the latest technology, it is at the same time a thoroughly contemporary car. It looks as simple as a kit car, but it's immensely sophisticated and it costs as much as a Jaguar or Porsche. That's right: the second-generation Aero 8 costs £62,500. It has a new look but also some significant technical changes. Most manufacturers only wait two or three years before releasing a facelifted and freshened MkII version of a new car. But life at Morgan's Malvern base moves at a more leisurely rate and it has taken the company a full seven years to deliver an updated version of its Aero 8 roadster. Immediately apparent is a redesign that bins the controversial crosseyed headlamps in favour of more conventional xenon lights. In fact, both the front and rear have been redesigned, with a new front valance and a small ducktail at the rear for aerodynamic balance. It doesn't quite have the olde world charm of other Morgans, but it's a handsome car in a brutish sort of way and looks best when viewed in profile, which shows off the lovely 18" SL Corse forged alloy wheels.
