Did the clock say 0-60mph in 5.9sec?

Yeah, 5.9. Slower than expected but i suppose that has to do with two people being in the car :usa7uh:

lOl, I wouldn`t say so.. I don`t think this guy really put the peddle to the metal. MBusa has a manufactors time of 4.2sec for the S65 and thats quit conservitive.

of course its a typo. Probably meant 4.9 sec

I agree, i'm just saying that extra person in the car didn't help and as you said, it doesn't look like he gave it the proper launch. That's clear for sure :usa7uh: Road & Track timed the SL65 (yes i know it's the SL, but..) at 0-97 km/h in 4.0 seconds and 0-160 km/h in 8.3.

In my opinion EVO has never been that great when it comes to straight line figures, in most cases their figures are slower than everybody elses:t-hands:

Either way, i enjoyed the video ;)

If the performance numbers suffer to that degree with one person in the car it would take 9sec. to reach 0-60mph with four people! I sure hope that was a type-o!

Trust me i no! the new S65 is one of the most athletic vehicles out to date for it's class. but i'm not going to lie something tell's me Mercedes is fudging the numbers a little on it's performance.:eusa_naug

I dont think so, The car goes not always at its best, drive it when its hot outside and drive it when its cold. You will see a very big difference. 2 days back, I drove the new CLS500 of a friend with 4 guys in the car, we did 100km/h (62mph) in 6.4 seconds, and with 2 we did 5.8.. I think Mercedes should wright down a better acceleration time, official.

And their driving style. They didn't exactly strike me as being too hardcore either. :usa7uh:

Good video though. 450SEL 6.9 for me please.

Anyone want to venture a guess which car I like better? Hint: take a peek at my screen name.

Great video, thanks for posting it! My one beef with that vid is those W124, W126-style rims on the 6.9! I'd prefer to see the usual 6.9 wheels.

Sadly, the 6.9 is hard to find in decent condition in my corner of the world. Even if I find a genuine 6.9, it'll be hard to find someone that has enough experience and expertise to deal with the suspension.

The suspension will be fine - if you drive the car a lot. And with fuel prices being as they are, you won't be driving a 450SEL 6.9 a lot. :D

Good video but thay could have done more with the S65 besides peal rubber.

And that's another reason why i love it :usa7uh:

:t-cheers:

Thanx for sharing!
Love these past and present tests.
But 5.9 to 100km/h is sooo bad.

What kind of suspension did it have? Air?

M

Nope, the 600 (W100) had air suspensions, but the 6.9 used Mercedes' hydropneumatic suspension. From what I hear from some mechanics and dealers, few technicians at MB know how to fix it today.

Worse, I can't find many 6.9s and even fewer of those are in good condition.
