The lease of my car ends in August and I am currently in the market for a new car. I test drove both the New E sedan this weekend and a 2009 CLS. I am considering maybe buying the New E or maybe leasing it for 36 months. If I go with the CLS I will lease it probably for 24 months only because I know they will be changing the body style in the next year or so and wiill be damned if I am paying a car payment close to 1,000 a month to be a model back. But I love the look of both, but I like the sportier ride of the CLS, whereas the E sedan ride is well...very "sedany"..lol.

Opinions?

Can't really make an objective opinion here!!

Absolutely not like the styling of the W212!!! So my decision would be the C219 CLS…beautiful car with an absolutely stunning interior - and even if there will be a new one (which will get the interior styling of the new C207 and W212 probably) it is a timeless machine!!

Do you consider the C207 or do you want/need a 4 seater?!

They had an E class coupe on the showroom floor, but I was not impressed with it. The interior is lacking and I am a huge interior person...that can make it or break it for me.

Absolutely understand…but then you should really consider to go for the current CLS…because interior of the 2011 one will probably look like the E-CLass' one! :usa7uh:

check this link - there are some "interior" spyshots:

So my vote goes still to the CLS 550!! Fabulous engine with stunning V8 sound and more then enough power!! Great looking interior, timeless design inside and outside!! :eusa_pray

I love the interior of the E sedan but, the E coupe interior is not the same. The E350 sedan I test drove was in that camel and black combo..it blew me away. I actually wish Mercedes put the sedan interior into the coupe.

E-coupé interior is more of a C-class interior in terms of quality. Good, but not mid size luxury good. The new CLS will visually resemble the E-coupé and E-sedan, but the interior quality and craftmanship will likely even be above the W212 E sedan....

I like the new E more than the old CLS, but I like the 500 engine ten times more than the V6, so this is really difficult. I think I'd go with the CLS 550 in the end. The V8, torque and power make the difference here.

Also, the F10 5er will be out this year, so maybe you should wait and see what that's going to be like? The interior is going to be stunning in the new 5er ;)

Buy the E..the CLS is getting replaced soon..
Its reason enough..
Plus the new E is HAWT:D

Two cars, similar but yet different. Get the CLS if what you seek is a coupe with everyday practicality and buy the new E if a long term and dependable car is what you want. Bare in mind that although the E is new, it's still an E-Class and will look pedestrian in a 5-6 months time when the car has flooded the roads. The CLS always look special no matter what new car you put it up against. Given that a new model will hit US dealers early spring next year, you will certainly be able to get some attractive discount on 09 models -- especially during this recession.

Both cars are fine but in the end it's your choice as this is very much a case of apples vs pears.
