Autobild has posted illustrations of a surprise Jaguar concept sedan penned by Bertone. The car is scheduled to appear at next months' Geneva Auto Salon.

An interesting mix of old school Jaguar XJ6/12 elements paired with Jaguars' new modernistic signature design. It remotely reminds me of the DeTomaso Longchamp/Deauville cars of the 1970s'.

I actually like it better than the current XJ.

Looks decent, but it has too much of Jags old design theme. Seems like they would be going back. I would expect more of a Baby XJ or XF for their next entry level car.

Only moments after posting the teaser image, German print mag Autobild bashed us over the head with these three photos of the Jaguar design concept.
Reminiscent of the classic Jaguar XJ, the imposing 4-door concept serves as a potential new entry-level model in vein of the discontinued X-Type. Looking at the door handles, the retro design features rearward opening (suicide) rear doors. Seemingly, Bertone is going for a new approach to the four-door coupe design trend but without the sloping roof line. Here Bertone has inserted a normal sedan-like C-pillar but have made the rear doors half the size of the front doors.
Proportions are 4.5 meters long, 1.95 meters wide and 1.35 meters tall - slightly smaller than the old X-Type. With the shortened greenhouse adding to its sleek look we couldn't help but remember the Ford Interceptor Concept from 2007.
For the powertrain, all we know is that its being billed as a long range full hybrid.
The name B99 pays homage to the 99-year history of the company founded in 1912.
No doubt, the B99 is a head turner but will it receive a positive response from the media and fans alike? We'll find out soon enough when the B99 makes its debut in Geneva on March 1st. In the meantime, let us know what you think in the comments below.
Jaguar B99 concept study by Bertone revealed

Personally, i don't like it if this is Jag's 3er rival. Looks too retro for this segment .:eusa_thin I hope for something more futuristic and elegant like the XF.

This concept does make sense. It's a massive step from the design and brand image Jaguar has taken with their resent models. What I see here is a antique flash from the past. Quite frankly, the concept looks dated as if it was designed in 1998. The rear is butt ugly too.

Its good looking concept IMO, but its years late. Jaguar has moved on from that look. This would have made a great XJ in 2004. Take the doors off and it would have been an even nicer XJ Coupe. Jaguar won't go back to this style again since they're selling all the new-look XJs that they can build.

Not even Bentley, Rolls Royce or Aston Martin have a line-up of cars with such blunt "old-word" design edge.

You just have to step out in your pink gator shoes and slap a random bitch on the street when you own that car:D..hahaj/k

Interesting stuff from an uninteresting source! Glad to see Jag is getting back on track. I hope they make it happen!! :usa7uh:

I love this! I won't lie, I'm very biased towards this. U know why? because I designed something similar in one of my ghetto sketches. LOL

Oh, so this B99 Concept is reportedly a smaller car similar to the BMW 3 series in size.

It will be interesting to see how this design translates onto a relatively compact package. Whatever...it is highly unlikely that this car will ever make it anywhere near the production stage.

I had no idea that this was coming ! That is why I was at first so fascinated, but the more I view the photographs the more I realize that this is pretty much "been there, done that". I suspect concepts far more interesting than this will be introduced in Geneva.

So this is the old XJ design that was aborted, back in the 1990's? Seriously, this is just awful. Pathetic effort from the Italian studio responsible for the Lamborghini Miura, Alfa Romeo Montreal and Lancia Stratos.

I love it. Elegant, classic, perfect proportions, just enough modernity but lots of old-school British flair.
However, I think it'd work for a full-size luxury saloon, not for a 3er competitor. Would look contrived and strange in a small package.

This is a great design for the XJ....when they redesigned in 2002!

I like the current direction that they are going with their designs, especially if that recent turbine concept is any indicator. The current XJ has some questionable aesthetic elements, but I'd rather have that than this Bertone concept.
