SL. The new SL looks to be just what a SL is all about, and has been all about since like forever. To pit that against the anti-thesis of a 911, well...

If I was offered one or the other as a gift right now - the 911 of course. If I was spending my money - neither.

if the 991 was a coupe maybe i would change my mind, but since i hate the 911 cornvertable, and i love the SL, my vote goes for the SL.

If by looks only I can't vote then. I always liked the SL and never really liked the 911 if to talk about looks. I did not see the SL live yet, in fact neither the 911. I think I'd prefere the SL because I don't like cloth tops and never liked the shape of the 911 with top down. I'd take the 458 Spider.

Gimme a 911 coupe. Don't like the cabrio. Don't like the SL at all either in these shots btw..

Not voting! Because there is no 'neither' option. But if I had to pick one, it would 100% be the 911.

911 without any hesitation. In fact comparing the two side by side shows how the SL is trying too hard.......

LOL....I have got to admit though, those headlights look horrible. LED can't come soon enough, because this here is just plain weird.....why couldn't they at least add another Xenon bulb? Would do wonders against the empy void that's there now....

I would be a hard choice, I really like both of them. But the SL looks very nice here. Specially the interior, with that alum all around.

SL for me.

great poll...these are the 2 cars im considering next...the 911 looks almost too classic from the front in particular whereas the sl appears more dynamic to my eyes...although controversial the headlights do convey innovation as compared to the traditional "teardrop " design....still questionable as to whether it retains that iconic status but it has managed to move me....so the SL it is...can't wait to see it in black.....

Well, I made this simple for myself. I Voted SL because I'd NEVER buy a Porsche Convertible, and I think Vert 911's look terrible. If it was a Coupe, I'd probably pick the 911.

Also, the SL will probably cost less and be cheaper/easier to Option, so ballin' on a budget, would give me more incentive to go SL.

In my country:

SL 500: €143.000
911 Carrera S cabrio: € 146.000

Roughly the same price give or take...

Germany:

911 Carrera S cabrio: € 115.000
SL 500: € 117.000

Whoa. How much is the new SL? Maybe the 911 is cheaper, but I think where the SL might "save" is in the Options, since you can add a new 911 by even slightly Optioning a 911.... to your 911.

Won't be any different in the SL..

Looks like I have to remind you this is a top end MB car that features all the tech and all the comfort features MB has available, pretty much
SL option list doesn't end either....

BTW, allow me too add that I think the al- red interior of the Porsche is quite hideous (the color!), and, frankly speaking, the SL interior actually makes the 911 interior cramped and dated/button infested.
