There will come a time when its time to buy a new car (whenever it happens). I have three options and have had it for a year now.
It's between the newest Golf GTI (generation 6?) and Scirocco 2.0 TSI. I have outsider and its Z4 Coupé 3.0si but unfortuanly its a very rare car in Sweden. Only six are for sale and they are either Silver or Grey and either they lack the M steering wheel or the sportseats. So not many cars to choose between and neither of them fulfill my wishes how the car should look like.

Both the new Golf and Scirocco are two very intresting choices.
Scirocco are like 10 times better looking but the GTI looks better from the inside. GTI have nicer details like the red stitching and the chrome on the steering wheel.

GTI has 10 extra horsepower, with 210hp vs 200hp. OK 10 hp isnt much and the acceleration is probably the same but still why not the same power output? GTI also comes with 'XDS electronic differential' which Scirocco doesn't have.

Are there any differences between them, meaning how they drive?
Handling the same?
Steering feel the same?

Then there is the question. DSG or not? how reliable is it?

Adjustable suspension is available for both.
Are there any more differences between the cars?

Scirocco is prettier outside, Golf inside. I'd go for the Scirocco in the end much more special imo.

I must say that I have no experience with either car. I've sat in both once , but that's about it. Never even sat in the new GTI.

From my experience with both car, the Scirocco gave me the feel of a more playful car, as it had a more nervous gas pedal, while the Golf felt more mature. Steering I think is the same in both cars. I have to say that I have only driven the 1.4TSI in both cars, not the GTI nor the 2.0TFSI.

For me the best choise is the GTI. It is a more complete package, with more equipment, much better materials, more space and practicality.

As far as the design is concerned, I am of quite the opossite opinion. I don't like the looks of the Scirocco, but this is totally subjective. So, I vote for the Golf.

I just found out that Scirocco also have 210 hp from year 2010 but what about electronic differential' ?

I believe the it won't get XDS.

That's because VW strategy is to place the Golf over the Scirocco, which is the reason why the Scirocco is not offered with AWD in R spec, why it has a less premium interior, and probably why it won't get XDS. Yet, here it is priced over the Golf, but that's another story...

The 2010 models also have updated interior :)

DSG is very good with those engines and cars.
It's a different story with TDI and DSG (sometimes)

I'd say if you want to sit "low" buy a Sicrocco the seat/sitting posission is much lower in the Scrocco.
If you want the second most RAW Golf in the market buy a GTI...
it's also very practical + now you get the LED tailights for the GTI.

Last, you need to get Xenon, Diff, and Adjustable suspension.
I voted Golf GTI.

Do you know what updates it is, like red stitching on the steering wheel? :)

Diff doesnt seem to be available for Scirocco, only for the GTI.
Adjustable suspension is priority no 1 :)

I've driven the Golf V GTI DSG (chipped to 250 hp), and it was quite amazing. The DSG gearbox is a dream.

But isn't it a bit soon to change car already Andreas?
And on second thought, I'm changing my vote to the GTI, too. Probably a bit more of a drivers car, and the GTI stying package with different tailight graphics and stuff make it look very beautiful..

Easy... Scirocco gets my vote! Of course, if the money is not an issue cuz' I heard in some parts of Europe, price vary a lot! :usa7uh:

Since my original plan was to get Z4 Coupé, practicality isnt a big issue. If I get GTI, it would probably be a 3-door like my current car.

In that case take Scirocco; looks million times better and i've heard it drives better too. Didn't try any of them though.

As far as I can recall, the GTI, even in 2 door trim, is more practical than Scirocco.

Probably, but since I have no kids I only need a car to transport 2 people. And for two people the car works fine just like a Z4 Coupé would :)
In the end it comes down to which car is a better drive. A testdrive need to be done in the summer.

hi mate good luck with whichever you choose finally.I would take the sirroco i think its a stunning car and if you happy with a 3 door for shure a sirroco plus i think you get interior updates this year so its a win win for the sirocco..

GOOD LUCK.
