Vs Autobild: (FL) BMW 330d vs A4 3.0 TDI

Vehicle comparisons, matchups, debates, performance battles, and head-to-head discussions.
Which car won the test
The a4 looks fresher car
Why no c320cdi in the test...

Actually they found the look of 3er FL fresher. :D
They praised the engine, performance, handling & driving dynamics of the 3er.
3er engine was also less thirsty and cleaner.
They were impressed by fit&finish + materials in 3er cabin.
And said new iDrive is much better than the old one (in some respect even better than MMI).

A4 was praised due more comfortable ride (adaptive dampers on board!), and better traction (Quattro on board).
A4 also won them over due available safety systems on board (eg. LaneChange assist etc)
A4 also had larger trunk, and the engine was quieter than the one in BMW.

They claimed A4 was better all-rounder car, almost perfect, without any significant disadvantages. But a bit unexciting.

In the end they proclaimed 3er winner of this test - due being more exciting in general, and in particular more exciting to drive - all this with less fuel consumption & less CO2.

From those angles where the A4 looks just like the A5 it is really fresh but from all other it simply does not cut it in this generation. I say it again, it is a stretched out A5... not that nice.

It's a fact the new Audis are all stretched & very long & wide.
We can easily say they are huge for the respected segment, and larger then the rivals (total exterior length).

Therefore they ooze more presence - due the dimensions yet not much due styling exercise.

3er & C-class looks like cars from different (smaller) segment, when compared to A4. Even in A6 vs. 5er & E-class that's the case.
Not to mention 3er coupe vs A5.

Wow the FL 3er looks superb, amazing small details made huge wonders to me..i like!

330d for me please :t-drive:

The FL has improved the 3er to almost perfection. I really love how the car looks now.
It looks reallt fresh, balanced and agressive.
IMO the 3er is a much better all arounder than the A4.

IMO The B8 A4 isn't that exciting or beautiful.
I drove a 3.2FSI two weeks ago and was disappointed, when comparing with the 330i.
I actually was expecting more from Audi.

Good test. I can say I agree with the results.
To me, both are great looking cars; the BMW pretty dynamic, and the Audi very clean. The technical specifications of the Bimmer are better, but the Audi seems to be a really great car too.

For a me 330d too :) I really like the space gray colour, but the black or grey interior would be a better choice for me. And the M-Package is a must...

The only thing I am not in favour of, are the new mirrors, but the overall look of the car is so good that they are barely noticeable.

Congratulations BMW for the great facelift. I hope the 3 Series Coupe will be so hot too

^ Am i dreaming? good words about an Audi from klier?:D
He must be having a really good day :D
Nice to see the 3er win tests against new models. The FL is great looking but it remains a FL. Wait for the next 3er to kick some a**:D (counting the days now to receive my new 3er)

And Eni, better performance and less consumption, that's all what efficient dynamics stands for right :usa7uh:Great to see it helping BMW win the test:t-cheers:

If Autobild tests an Audi / VW product, rest assured it will usually finish at the top. Just like when AMS tests a Mercedes it will generally finish first. :D

It all depends on the main question asked in the article.

If the question is: "Which car is the best all-rounder?", then the answer is Audi, and the Audi wins.

Etc.

The most dynamic & drivers car: BMW

The best all-rounder for money: VW

The best sportscar: Porsche

The most comfortable for long drives: MB

etc.

:t-cheers:

Personally I wish the E90 is replaced ASAP. The weird greenhouse shape (the proportion of GH versus the rest of the body) bothers me a lot. The greenhouse is just too huge, making the car a bit dorky.

Less tall greenhouse would look much better ...

The next 3er is addressing that ... Much better proportions.

Do you birdies know how next 3er is looking? They must be important birdies.
