Vs Autobild: M3 Manual vs M3 DCT

0-200km/h time is a great improvement. Nice to see it gets better fuel consumption with DCT.

More info from the test

acceleration:
the bmw M3 is already fast, but with the dkg its faster. the dkg adds 20 additional kg to the car, but you feel non of them. the gear-ratios were improved and the acceleration doesnt stop while shifting => it is, and it feels faster

Handling: the dkg shifts lightningfast and it´s very smart. using the D-Mode is very comfortable. The 6MT is also very smooth, but compared to the dkg a bit "old fashion" nearly annoying.

Fuel ecconomy: by the better gearratio the ecconomy is increased from 13,8 ( autobild-testresult) to 13,0 ( also autobild-testresult).
the higher weight doesnt really count (20kg).

conclusion:
Well Done, BMW! the DKG is a success. Great without "but" and "if". We were dainty searching for cons, but didnt found them. There is no need for getting used to it, it is comfortable, shifts comfortable, and if required by the driver, also very hard( german "hart", means also racy). And it has a better fuel ecconomy. Therefor: more of this in other models!

^Thanks Andreas.....however I was expecting to see a bigger time gap around the track.

I guess very good driver with Manual could comfortably beat an average driver with DCT around a track.

It seems the DCT really does shine in the straight line sprint and the extra gear obviously helps to improve fuel economy. Overall good stuff.

I think it depends on track. Sportauto said they can cut the N-ring time with a couple of seconds with DCT. Lets see if they are correct.

Regarding DCT, it will be a better choice if you drive a lot in the cities, thanks to the automatic mode.

German AMS did the same test but here the differences is much closer.

DCT vs Manual = (4.6 to 4.8s; 16.0 to 16.3s) and consumes less (14.7l to 15.1l).

Notes: M-DKG excellent gearbox, better suited to the chassis and engine then manual. Fuel consumption up to 1l lower despite extra 20kg of weight.
