Finally, R&T did a comparison test of these 4 door sport sedans.

ROADandTRACK.com -- Comparison Tests - Ultimate Sedan Comparison (6/2008)

1st place: C63
2nd place: M3
3rd place: RS4
4th place: IS-F

This test was basically done on everyday roads, not a track circuit. As I've mentioned many times before, the C63 is likely the better performance car for everyday roads, while the M3 shines better on a track.

I know what I would pick - the M3. Surprisingly easy to drive on the streets, lots of traction and comfortable ride as a 335i. Now my biggest concern is, do I want a manual or a DCT?

Good to see the RS4 still gong strong.

8/10ths of a point separating 1st and 2nd. Out of 570+ points, that's pretty much a draw. Even without benefit of track testing, they could still see traditional M3 advantages on everyday roads: handling, steering, driving excitement, and ride. That last one wasn't a given as the M3 in this test was on 19" wheels and without EDC.

BTW is there a link? I want to know when it comes to Halmstad or Malmö.

^What was that?:D

The RS4 is a true gem:bowdown:,i really the hope the new one lives up to it's predecessor:eusa_pray

The C63 is thundering as expected:D

^yep me to..
but thats how we roll on the westcoast..:D

Just looking at the specs I don't think there have every been 4 more evenly matched/similar cars in any one segment like this before. The only real differences (on paper of course) outside of some RPM seperation are the driven wheels (Audi), number of gears, and type of transmissions. Their engines are more similar than dissimilar for the most part. Oh and one is a little on the heavy side.

^^ Agreed

It is indeed good news that there is quite a variety to choose from nowadays.

I was hoping they would have reviewed the M3 with DCT. On another note am I the only one that finds American reviews to have blisteringly fast 0-60 times? I mean the M3 did 0-60 in 4.6s (manual)? We never get those kinda times here, heck I doubt that even the DCT will give us 4.6s over here.

They also mention that the M3 was the cheapest car out of the 4? Atleast over here, the RS4 is still considerably cheaper.

You are forgetting displacement (and torque). Except for the M3 and RS4 units, there is a huge spread in both displacement and torque.

True, forgot about that one. Still though their engine characteristics are very similar now that MB and Audi and even Lexus have joined the rev-happy party.

It's always good to have a variety of different outcomes for different comparison tests. :t-cheers:

Audi RS4 looks badass in yellow.

The engines are more similar....WHAT? Maybe in terms on HP rating, but the high revving 4.0 BMW V8 is a completely different beast from the 6.2 AMG V8
